ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota convenes its most diverse Legislature to-date in January, with some of its newest members saying they plan to use their history-making elections to pass policies to protect the minority communities they represent.
Solidifying transgender rights, banning “conversion therapy,” safeguarding abortion access and legalizing marijuana are among the goals shared by some of the newly elected lawmakers and seasoned legislators who have been working for years on issues important to underrepresented communities. Now, they feel there is momentum to push the issues forward.
“It’s really going to change the dynamics of what people expect lawmakers to look like, the way they expect lawmakers to act, and the kind of issues we push to the forefront,” newcomer Leigh Finke, the first transgender person elected to the state’s Legislature, said of her diverse incoming class.
When 201 legislative members convene in January, there will be 35 lawmakers of color. Twelve lawmakers, all Democrats, are part of the LGBTQ community. And for the first time, Black women will be represented in Minnesota’s Senate — there will be three of them.
Five lawmakers of color are Republicans. Walter Hudson, who is Black and newly elected to the House, said it’s important to remember there is “diversity within diversity” and that all people of color do not have the same priorities or values. He said he’s looking forward to elevating voices of conservative people of color.
Still, with Democrats in control of both legislative chambers as well as the governor’s office for the first time in eight years, many believe their “trifecta” will allow them to pass proposals that have been unsuccessful in the past.

The word doesn't mean what most people think it means.
I heard Minnesota used to be a nice place. That ended with all the Somalis and other trash moving in and demanding power. And the fools who voted to give it to them.
As if the weather wasn’t a good enough reason to avoid Minnesota like the Plague!
Means MN is more screwed up then it has been.
It means liberal Minnesotans will move and foul up the next nest they inhabit.
I know of a city council made up of a Fat White Chuck Male Mayor and has 75% Black Council Members. In this case Diversity is spelled RETARD since the combined IQ of this crew is at a mentally RETARDED level.

People need to get over this antiquated belief that immigration is always good.
Depends on the quality of the immigrants and to a lesser extent where they are from.
Cross off another state ... outflow will be larger than the inflow.

The ONLY purpose of immigration is too lower the prevailing wages of the indigenous work force and to garner more future Democrat votes. There is no other reason for it.
There is a small suburb of Fort Worth which has nearly an all black city council. There have been fist fights in those meetings.
Our influx of immigrants has steadily been going down in quality over the past decade or so. Especially with the human detritus swarming illegally over the border these days. Illiterate, low level of skills, no especial feeling of gratitude or allegiance to the U.S., unwilling to assimilate. Instead of adopting our values, language, and culture, they demand we modify our country to suit them. Witness all the keypads saying, "For Spanish, push 2...", all the bilingual forms, all the bilingual instruction books, etc. It is all a form of surrender and lack of national pride.

One thing I've seen more of in my general neighborhood:
1. Building contractors used to arrive in a car with a company name and state contractor's license number on the side. Now, an unmarked truck circles the block and drops off a bunch of little men who hide and do their work and then get picked up again. No marked truck is ever parked outside.
2. The little men set up fruit stands with a big patio umbrella. They do this at certain intersections and often where there are a lot of junior high and college age kids. One had big bags of wholesale-packaged oranges at his little stand. Doesn't look very lucrative or make much sense since a good produce market is a short walk away. He might be a front man or a lookout, or maybe he's selling drugs.
The two cases mentioned almost certainly involve illegal aliens.

In this context “diverse” means Democrats. Any other meaning of the word, including the fashionable current year nominal meaning, is mere decoration.
