The polar cold front shattered the previous one-hour temperature drop record in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on Wednesday, with temperatures plummeting from 43 degrees to 3 degrees between 1:05 p.m. and 1:35 p.m., the National Weather Service in Cheyenne said. The previous record was a 37-degree drop in one hour.
The agency warned at the time that temperatures were still dropping.
In a span of two hours, the winter chill dropped temperatures across southeast Wyoming by 51 degrees, from 42 degrees to -9 degrees, the NWS said.

Liberals tend not to last very long here. That’s basically what that sign means!
“We’re 40 miles out of Cody, Wyo and it’s -32F right now! Brisk!!!”
If I’m never cold again, it will be TOO SOON! I love living where it RARELY gets down to 65, and RARELY gets up to 80. No complaints!
“And we don’t vote for Liz Cheney!”
You're probably not in Flagstaff, where the climate resembles that of Vermont.
WTH? How is this possible? I thought we would be able to remove the furnace and reclaim the space.
The coldest place in the lower 48 is often Hawley Lake, Arizona. I lived a few miles from there in Pinetop during the falll, winter, and spring of ‘75-75. At 7,500 feet, it gets mighty chilly.
I am in Casper, and was a little unnerved when the power went out right after I climbed in bed last night. I have electric heat, which works out well in a coal-rich state. It’s not like we have trees around here to fall on power lines so it’s typically extremely reliable. Fortunately it blinked back on again after a moment, but apparently it was out 4 times in the night.
I used to live in that area don’t miss this part of it at all
Remember in our valley a period where it didn’t get above -20f for over a month
15 below here in southeast Nebraska.
We don’t have a furnace. Use wood burner.
Our Siberian Huskies are loving it.
ROFL...exactly.
Pffft- that’s nothing! I experienced a temp drop of 100 degrees once in a few hours. Left Florida when it was 80, and arrived in NE it was -20
My dad taught me to carry a blanket, boots and gloves in the car until opening day of Trout Season. Ahhhh Upstate NY...s****.
Hahahahahahaha the frigging classic “Human Popsicle”!
It is good to be prepared...
Even prepared for tyrannical governments that want to force you to freeze!
Can you imagine how the plains Indians handled that kind of cold?
Well, people could all go to Yellowstone and huddle around a geyser.................
I’m seeing little towns in NE Colorado at around -13, not snowing but the snow already there is blowing and drifting, bad wind chill. +28 over here in western Colorado.
Do you know the origin of the term, "Three Dog Night"?
Starting Friday, during the day we do rise above the freezing mark but the night temp lows are as follows:
Fri. 16-34
Sat. 17-37
Sun. 19-43
Mon. 18-46
Tue. 23-57
Hard freezing for 5 straight days is something I've never seen down here since we moved here in 2004.
