The latest installment of the “Twitter Files” in which Elon Musk is releasing deep-seeded documents from executives at Twitter before he accumulated the company is quite juicy. The sixth installment of the expose series reveals that between January of 2020 and November of 2022, over 150 emails were exchanged between the FBI and former Twitter Trust and Safety head Yoel Roth.
In a multi-part series of tweets, journalist Matt Taibbi goes into further detail. One tweet reads: “The FBI’s social media-focused task force, known as FTIF, created in the wake of the 2016 election, swelled to 80 agents and corresponded with Twitter to identify alleged foreign influence and election tampering of all kinds.”
...
Another states: “In an internal email from November 5, 2022, the FBI’s National Election Command Post, which compiles and sends on complaints, sent the SF field office a long list of accounts that “may warrant additional action.”
Taibbi added “a surprisingly high number are requests by the FBI for Twitter to take action on election misinformation even involving joke tweets from low-follower accounts.” As for the involvement of federal agencies, “Federal intelligence and law enforcement reach into Twitter included the Department of Homeland Security, which partnered with security contractors and think tanks to pressure Twitter to moderate content.”
Ad while “it’s no secret the government analyzes bulk data for all sorts of purposes, everything from tracking terror suspects to making economic forecasts” Taibbi tweeted, “The #TwitterFiles show something new: agencies like the FBI and DHS regularly sending social media content to Twitter through multiple entry points, pre-flagged for moderation.”
Taibbi noted “what stands out is the sheer quantity of reports from the government. Some are aggregated from public hotlines” and posted a Tweet from the FBI of El Paso which wrote: ‘Election day protocol for FBI Headquarters is to stand up a National Election Command Post which provides a centralized location for assessing election-related threats. Status reports and complaints are tracked.
Censorship by proxy is still unconstitutional..................
Fascism.
“complaints are tracked”
Mere complaints from Dem operatives beget censorship.
“National Election Command Post which provides a centralized location for assessing election-related threats.”
Time for a classic Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act request for all documents and communications related to the this Post. That 501(c)3 has done more for us than all of the GOPe in the halls of Congress.
Only 150? /s

I can see how this could have started as people honestly concerned about election interference. What I mean is, it didn’t necessarily start with bad intentions. With social media, there is the legitimate threat of foreign nation states posting misinformation to swing an election.
The problem with things like the Patriot Act or the FTIF is that government power is always ultimately abused. Agencies that are supposed to protect Americans end up turning against us.
What’s the solution? Freedom involves risk. I would rather have free speech and an exchange of ideas than have government agencies filter the flow of information. Back in the day, the government would openly issue press releases to contradict misinformation. It didn’t seek to ban it.
For example, masks don’t work? The government can present its data on how masks are effective, and we citizens can compare and contrast that with information from other sources. However, that’s not what happened here. The government actually tried to banish alternate viewpoints questioning the effectiveness of masks (those of us with actual experience with masks and mask technologies knew the government was full of it).
Left or right, we should all oppose government limits on free speech, but the left is ascendant right now, so they are loving this loss of freedom. I wish I could be optimistic, but it would take some very principled leaders to limit their own power should conservatives gain power.
Heck I don’t use Twitter! I call their offices directly. FYI, I am right they are wrong but they just don’t listen. So, now America pays and pays and pays.
Should be front page. Should have politicians screaming...unless they were all in on it?
Even the news of this is being censored. No one in the MSM is covering this. My liberal friends have no idea about this.
But it was for our own good. They are protecting us from the dreaded “misinformation” boogeyman.
Yep. This is the worst of all the Twitter files so far, that the FBI had 80+ agents surfing Twitter all day and asking Twitter to remove tweets that didn't like, often targeting accounts with very few followers. In other words, regular people.
This is absolutely offensive!
The worst part is it all started under Trump and while I realize he had nothing to do with any of it, he certainly let the FBI operate as a rogue agency.
The entire FBI needs to be defunded and disbanded. We can start over from scratch.
I’m thinking of FBI’s history and J Edgar’s nastiness with politicians and his dossiers, Nixon’s Deep Throat, and more recent issues including the Bundy’s, Oklahoma, interfering in international affairs, interfereing in elections and our lack of a border.
I’m wondering just how anti American they are and my imagination is agreeing with you. The dots connected above the surface are bad. Remember the attempt on Witmer’s kidnapping? recently Epps and Jan 6th? Recent fortified election?
And what the hell are they and the CIA doing in Brazil?
Is there any evidence of any of the PhD’s at Twitter ever ask for a warrant? Or did the FBI just extort their cooperation?
Probably not. They were playing for the same team.
And now Twitter is staffed with countless former federal agents.
Most of who have been sacked by Musk
You forgot this part from Musk:
“After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”
There will be no more government censorship at Twitter
