Ukraine wields US-supplied offensive arms against Russia – for the first time

Monday, Dec. 19 saw the first Ukrainian strikes inside Russia with advanced US missiles that President Joe Biden promised the Ukraine leader a week earlier. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the Ukrainians used their fresh supplies of AGM-88 Harm missiles to strike power and water supply plants in the Russian town of Belgorod in retaliation for Moscow’s unceasing Iranian-made drone assaults on its vital facilities including power – in a bid to freeze Ukraine into submission.

The American AGM-88 is a high-speed anti-radiation missile designed to disarm the radar systems of antiair weapons. Powered with solid fuel, it can reach a speed of Mach 2 without generating smoke, which makes it hard for the targeted victims to detect in time to ward off its strike.

Our sources note that this missile attack was timed for Monday to coincide with an important summit President Vladimir Putin held with his Belarus ally, , Alexander Lukashenko. The first use of an American offensive weapon on targets inside Russia is expected in military circles to raise the stakes of the Ukraine conflict. Putin may decide to expand his campaign to crush Ukrainian resistance even to the point of taking his war across the border into its NATO neighbors, especially those keeping Kyev supplied with military equipment.

So all of this is and will continue to turn against us because we can no longer try to impose American or US-led Anglo-American hegemony on the rest of the world. The rest of the world doesn’t want that. Frankly, we don’t need it ourselves. It’s ruinous us. So all this (US hegemony) will collapse and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine will only accelerate this process.” Macgregor concluded.

...........

Ain't that the truth

We haven’t heard much about tanks lately. I think they just become fat missle magnets.

The media is also against “Extremism” in the US military. By that they mean Trump supporters, white male heteros, Christians, etc.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I for one, want as much toxic masculinity in the military that protects my country, as I can get. Whoever came up with the idea that it wasn’t good for our military never served a day. I think toxic femininity is behind this attempt to subvert our military power

I was reading that the Russians have planned to hit Yellowstone with several 100 megaton nukes. Just think about what the world would be like if Yellowstone blows, and has a nice dirty mixture of nuclear fallout mixed with the normal ash cloud. It will go global. Sometimes you have to wonder if we’re not pre-destined to kill ourselves off.

“ The Taliban were another enemy that could not be allowed to win.”

You DO realize that the analogy of a foreign invader being outlasted by a determined force fighting on their own turf goes against everything you post?

NATO gave its surplus equipment to Ukraine.

Russia has been losing since March. It controlled 27% of Ukrainian territory in March. Now it controls 15%

Russia has become desperate enough to buy weapons and ammunition from north Korea and Iran.

If Russia went against NATO in a conventional war it would last shorter than Saddam’s military in gulf war 1

And the extremists in the Ukrainian military are just that, extremist and rare.

In your Russian army, those actions are the norm and not extreme nor rare

The time has come for Russia to negotiate its defeat .

Putin claimed to annex 4 regions but today, 20th December, Russia controls only the following percentage of tye regions

Kherson 70 %
Zaporizhzhia 75%
Donest 55%
Luhansk 96%

Heck, you Russians are losing even the regions you illegally grabbed

Russian weapons are badly maintained. The more complex ones are in worse states of disrepair and can barely function.

That’s empirical evidence from the past 11 months

Unfortunately, with the likes of Presidementia XiJinBiden being 'guided' by a bunch of fascist WEF sycophants and socialists in the White House Asylum and CONgress, we're likely VERY soon to find out!

Certainly time for (perhaps well past time for) prayers! Alas, many of the 'chickenhawks' in gubmint (and some FReepers, unfortunately) DO want war with Russia. I am very disappointed that so many FReepers are absolutely blind to the existential threat that the WEF fascists, who control MANY gubmints, pose to humanity. Sad!

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova’s response to a media question in connection with State Department Press Secretary N. Price’s statement about Russia’s “guilt” in the deterioration of Russian-American relations
2591-19-12-2022

Question: How could you comment on State Department spokesman Nikolai Price’s statement in an interview that the Biden administration was trying to build more stable and predictable relations with Russia, which allegedly made them “more unstable and unpredictable.”

Answer: I will say right away that this is a false construction, which can be easily corrected if the United States and Russia are reversed. Of course, we had no illusions from the start, but we sincerely strove to find common ground even in the face of confrontation constantly fomented by Washington in order to make Russian-American relations stable and predictable.

It was the desire of the United States to maintain American hegemony at all costs, ignoring the new geopolitical realities, as well as the arrogant unwillingness to conduct a serious dialogue on security guarantees, that led to a natural result. After the high-profile fiasco in Afghanistan, America is increasingly drawn into a new conflict, not only supporting the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv with finances and weapons, but also increasing its military presence “on the ground.”

This is a dangerous and short-sighted policy that brings the US and Russia to the brink of a direct confrontation. In turn, Moscow calls on the George Biden administration to take a sober assessment of the situation and not unleash a dangerous escalation spiral. We hope that Washington will hear us, although there are no grounds for optimism yet.

Rhetorical assurances of good intentions, constantly heard from the American side in the intervals between threats and “five minutes of hatred”, by definition, cannot be the basis for an equal dialogue. Especially in combination with the fact that American officials do not hesitate to lie tritely that Secretary of State E. Blinken is in contact “with his colleague S. V. Lavrov.” For reference, the last time they spoke by phone was on July 29, and at subsequent international forums the head of American diplomacy ran away from our Minister so as not to cross paths with him and get into the frame.

Russia is interested in reducing tension and agreeing on the principles of peaceful coexistence based on strict reciprocity. We do not refuse to communicate with the United States at various levels, but for at least minimal progress, we need a counter movement that requires political will, open-minded thinking and a willingness to negotiate honestly, without a double bottom. And this is exactly what is completely absent now in Washington.

how long would a NATO army in a war against Russia survive?

You mean: ...against the remnants of Putin's savaged military forces that limp home from the battlefields of Ukraine?

Putin's Russia will be coming out of this conflict a lot weaker than it went in! NATO is coming out much stronger!

With the impending accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO - Gee! I wonder what triggered that? - the Baltic Sea becomes a NATO sea.

Regards,

This means Americans were present in the Ukraine to operate these weapons. Several weeks ago it was reported that there was an ‘advance’ team (1 general and a cadre of staffers) in the Ukraine most likely to make arrangements for Americans to enter the arena. The team would reserve and make arrangements for housing/feeding Americans etc. These advanced weapons systems just can’t be handed over to people unused to them, so ‘contractors’ (military who temporarily retire) go to the Ukraine with donated weapons to operate them.
