Is This Winning? Western leaders can no longer hide the truth about Ukraine.
The American Conservative ^ | December 19, 2022 | George D. O’Neill Jr.

Recently, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen carelessly revealed the devastating cost of the Ukraine war.

“It is estimated that more than 20,000 civilians and 100,000 Ukrainian military personnel have died to date,” she said. The comment drew sharp backlash and the E.C. later deleted the comments from video recordings of the address. The censorship was left unexplained and demonstrated the confusion of the purveyors of the approved narrative.

If Von der Leyen’s estimate is true, that is nearly ten times the number of dead Ukrainian soldiers reported by the Ukrainian government. The E.C. president’s remark shows that even the strongest backers of this bloody and unnecessary war can no longer hide the truth: Ukraine is at risk of losing.

The mainstream media and the Biden administration insist ad nauseam that Ukraine is winning against Russia. But the facts on the ground do not fit the narrative and the administration and media know it. The war hawks know their cynical Ukraine policy has not succeeded in driving Russia out of Ukraine. Tragically, the Ukrainians are the ones who suffer the immense cost of this foreign policy failure. Their nation is ruined for the sake and at the instigation of the globalist American empire.

There is no realistic scenario of the Russian loss.

Sounds like something you ‘want to the true.’

It takes a special type of dumb to imagine that this is 5 dimensional chess to "bleed the United States" by Russia, a country with a GDP maybe around the size of Illinois

Illinois is embarrassing the United States right now. It's so pathetic.

And how dumb you gotta be to believe bidens lies?

Biden's lies that more and longer range weapons, which would save thousands of lives, will trigger nuclear war when we've already crossed all of Russia's red lines and Putin clearly backed down?

The Washington tied "analysists" who keep writing opinion pieces hoping to convince people that forcing Ukraine to give up Crimea would be good policy?

There are two different wars going on here. The one inside your mind where you think there is an Illuminati conspiracy, and then the real world where Ukraine is constantly fighting with weaklings in the USA and the EU for better military support.

It’s the globalists vs Russia, China and several others who won’t go along with globalism. Unfortunate the lovely Ukrainian people got caught in it. The US should push to end it, but will we? Doubtful.

How much is it worth in US national treasure to see that Ukraine wins this war in which we have no vital national security interest? I think Russia is realizing they underestimated how much this was going to cost them and they may be up for a face saving solution. Time to start pushing the two sides to the conference table. If Ukraine has to cede some of the eastern territory with heavy Russian populus, then they need to do it else they need to be told the unending stream of US treasure comes to an end.

Disturbingly Orwellian.

If she was right or if she was wrong — the record of what she said should not be censored.

Either way, it was what she said and what she said should be a matter of record.

Not even Barack Hussein escapes having “corpse man” part of his oral record.

If the west is forced to admit that despite all the lives, money, weapons and psychological arm-twisting, that Russia is still holding gains, will there be a ‘knock over the chessboard’ moment in retaliation?

What does the 2019 Rand Report on Destabilizing Russia say?

I believe this article is inaccurate due to the cite of 120,000 dead Ukrainians. The number mentioned by the EU was amended later to state that these were not just KIA’s but wounded as well. Anyone who is paying attention knows that Ukraine is defending and retaking their land from the Russians. Anyone who states differently is not well informed on the dynamics of modern warfare. Also, the estimated death toll of Russian soldiers is close to 100,000 and if you count the hapless Wagner mercenaries that have been killed, that number could easily reach 200,000 dead Russians!

It’s not about winning or losing. It’s about churn. Taxpayer money is needed to churn out hardware to waste in Ukraine so that the Ukes can sell it on the black market and send some of the profit back into the pockets of the politicians who are also getting a cut of the defense dollars going to Lockheed, Mitre, Grumman, etc.

They know that of the billions sent from the U.S. to Ukraine each month, very little of it makes any difference on the battlefield.

Definitely a 'madman', even russian propagandists on russian state tv admit HIMARS and precise US artillery shells are devastating.

Interesting, both said have lost the same in military personnel. Both sides had similar military training and started off using the same weapons. Both sides use the same military tactics, which is not very advanced. Neither side learned or watched what we did in Iraq or Afghanistan. So they both have heavy losses

Did the EC really delete the comments from the video recording?1?!?

Yes, we live in censored times where all narratives are tightly controlled by leftist governments and fake narratives about anyone or group right of center is broadcast as fact.
