At least 36 people have been injured - with some knocked unconscious - in a 'mass emergency' onboard a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Arizona after it encountered severe turbulence.
Passengers were nearing the end of their seven hour flight from Phoenix to Honolulu on Sunday morning when anyone who wasn't wearing their seatbelt was thrown out of their seats.
It's believed 11 people were seriously hurt, including several children and a 14-month-old baby.
Those hurt onboard include both passengers and flight attendants working on Flight 35. They sustained a variety of injuries, including serious head injuries, cuts and bruises when they crashed into the plane's ceiling panels and overhead bins.
It has also been reported that some passengers were knocked unconscious during the ordeal - and one person suffered a broken neck due to the severity of the turbulence.

Landing in Denver in the afternoons can get scary bumpy.
Must be all that hot air flying over the Kenyans mansion.
My doctor has advised me to spend as little time as possible in my seat while flying. Just last summer we flew from JFK to Seoul and back...15 hours each way. I spent at least 10 hours on my feet in both directions.
Then you’ll be bouncing off the overhead. Take an aspirin and try tall compression socks too. That can help.

After that I always wear my lap belt.
I experienced that type of turbulence in the fifties over the Gulf when Hurricane Audrey was approching. A stewardess was buckled in crying. A military pilot was throwing up. I was pregnant trying to miscarry, holding a 2 year old and in pure paralyzed shock. Reading that article, I was lucky to have held on to my 2 year old.
Also,I love talking to the stews in the rear galley. "Hey,sweetie...have you ever gotten frisky with an old guy?"

A lapbelt is way better than nuffin in vehicles in motion.
I just fainted.
Virtual trips are 90% of the visual stimulation.
Unless there are peeps to see or unique activities to engage in, the trip is questionable.
I agree. I generally hold it until I land unless it is an international flight. Then I only use the rest room in calm air.
I’ve seen people plastered to the roof of the cabin several times.
