Ford has once again increased the starting price of its electric F-150 Lightning, citing increased raw material costs for the pickup truck. The new $4,000 price increase means Ford has upped the entry-level pricing of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup by 40% since the vehicle’s launch.

The new price of the F-150 Lightning Pro, an entry-level model meant for commercial and business customers, will be $55,974 — up nearly 8%, or $4,000, from previous pricing and a 40% increase from the original pricing of $39,974 announced in May 2021.

Through the end of November, Ford had only sold 13,258 F-150 Lightnings.

Makes me curious about the demographics of those purchases. I bet most are not made by ordinary people with their own money (i.e., fleet purchases from woke corporations and the like).

Love it or hate it, Ford is selling the F150L's faster than they can make them. They'd be crazy not to raise prices if they continue to have long waiting lines.

Personally I don't see having an EV pickup except for special use cases.

This is not really meant to be sold, it is more like a concept vehicle.

You really have to wonder if bankruptcy is in the offing for Ford - they are betting the farm and then some on EV, and they may have bet wrong about the pace of adoption.

The CEO of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, stated last year that these mandates are driving up costs and will drive buyers out from the market.

But turning the ownership of transportation into something only the affluent can afford is the goal.

Everybody else needs to limit their travel and use mass transportation (also coming in the form of autonomous vehicles)

I can’t wait to not get my Ford Lightning. I’m afraid when it self combusts, it will burn not only my garage down but the whole house with me in it.

The government requires a line-up with an average EPA rating. By making some of these, they look good for the bureaucrats. When they go bust, you (the taxpayer) will bail them out.

I can’t even afford a new truck. Most are in the $60-80K range. It’s cheaper to just repair and upkeep my 2010 F-150

I see fleet sales to Deep State in Ford’s future.

Betcha.

Yay! Gay oriented corps will make mass buys on this Ford EV garbage. I was walking in my local athletic field yesterday. It was grass mowing day. So lots of Government pickups were parked. They were all Ford

Next they will move onto another park for trimming.

Ford, consider paying customers to take the truck. That might be more successful, or not.

fleet purchases from woke corporations and the like....

And eventually those trucks will be sitting in a parking lot and the company accountants will be figuring out how to deduct those purchases from the company tax bill and if they can spread those costs over time, when they finally realize they don’t work.

Many, many years ago, Ford was pushing natural gas Crown Vic’s for police departments. They were absolutely worthless.

I live in a farming community that does very well. F150s are everywhere, I have one myself. I have yet to see a Lightning, but farmers need tow capability, and we are about 5,000ft elevation. I’m don’t know what/who the target market is for the Lightning.

For sh*ts and giggles I went on the Dodge website to price a Ram 2500. I think there were 4 options, the work truck up to the MackDaddy one. I think I picked the second from the bottom and added a few things, nothing crazy, but I did pick the diesel engine....$72,000.

Granted, walking into a dealership I could probably get it for cheaper, but not much cheaper.

Suburbans are a $100k vehicle.

So, YES, on the affluent will be able to afford cars.
