The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security held a hearing Thursday on finding a solution to gun violence, and the difference of opinion between Democrats and Republicans was put on full display. Passions ran high given the sensitivity of the issues involved, as liberal lawmakers focused on weapons and conservatives on the people who use them. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-La., a former judge who handled felony cases, was in the latter group and focused on the need to instill morality in people, citing Judeo-Christian principles. He went so far as to say it is the bedrock of the nation's founding principles, and that the effectiveness of the Constitution depends on it.

I would guess that most criminals do not have a consistent father figure in the home. IIRC something like 70% of black “families” are single mothers.
It skyrocketed once welfare became available, getting money for being single, for each child, etc.
Get rid of welfare, see the family unit become important again, and watch crime and gun violence go down.
Of course the state doesn’t want a strong family unit, so that’s never going to happen.

But the DAY you or any other politician tries to “get rid of the Second Amendment” is EXACTLY the day the Second Amendment is for.

I am taking about the existence of rights.
The Supreme Court made this abundantly clear nearly one hundred years after the adoption of the Second Amendment: “[t]his is not a right granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence. The Second Amendment [simply] declares that it shall not be infringed …” See: United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542, 533 (1876).
Same with the other rights.
Gohmert has conditioned Constitutional guarantees on teaching and learning. Until he clarifies his mush mouth syntax, he's guilty of conditioning rights on the NEA and children's capacity to learn, too.
It sounds like Gohmert needs speech or cognitive therapy.

We are not a moral society. The evidence for this claim is as clear as the current President of our government who by his own admission created the greatest voter fraud organization in our history in order to enforce his administration upon us. Every act of the Biden administration has been a direct assault on decency, morality, and justice. Every appointment has been of the most incompetent and scurrilous among us.
We can not survive this attack upon the foundation of our nation.
