Sen. Joe Manchin III said Monday he doesn’t plan to follow in the footsteps of Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona and switch his party affiliation from Democrat to independent, despite the moderate West Virginian frequently butting heads with his party.
However, Mr. Manchin did not close the door entirely. He said his quitting the Democrats is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Republicans are likely to win the senate in 2024, that’s why he’s keeping the option open. He wants to be in power and it would likely be his last term.

If he wants to stay in the Sen., he will likely have to switch to Republican. WV has turned almost completely Republican. Our folks are very conservative. That happened along the way when the coal companies began to close, making the UMW less powerful Politically. I was surprised when Joe won the last go around. I gave up begging Joe to switch.

Yep - testing the waters again - he dosn’t make a move until he wads in a bit to see what the temperature is.

He’s in a position to literally get anything he wants if he switched to Republican. This would be his opportunity to be able to do the “right” (pun intended) instead of the Democrat thing . . .

How about just quitting the Senate? That would be best.

Teasing....
Yes.
Playing coy and flirting with the politicians who can offer him the best deal. He’s not as crucial as before the midterm Senate election now, however.
