OHA, Clark County 'urging' people to wear masks indoors

PORTLAND, Ore. — Both the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and Clark County health officials are now 'urging' people to wear masks indoors following high levels of respiratory virus cases.

The flu season has been noted to have started much earlier this year, and hospitals are quickly exceeding patient capacity from RSV intakes. And, of course, COVID remains an ever-present problem. Multiple hospitals have entered crisis mode as they struggle to manage demands for adult and pediatric care.

The surge prompted a stark warning from Portland-area physicians on Thursday, who have experienced, first-hand, how patients and the state’s healthcare system have been affected during the hospital capacity crisis:

In a press release, the OHA's statement was simple: If people don’t start wearing masks indoors more, they put themselves and those around them – especially young children and older adults – at risk of severe illness, or even death.

“Masking works,” said Wendy Hasson, M.D., medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit at Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel. “Anytime you have to go to an indoor crowded area during this surge, if you and your child can wear a mask, that will help protect the (health care) resources.”

“Now is not the time to go to crowded indoor places like indoor birthday parties, play places, restaurants, grocery stores,” they said. “Anything you can do to keep your child out of a crowded indoor area will help.”

These people are completely crazy. What is the psychology that produces this sort of paranoia? Serious question.

Morons that don’t keep up with literature on masks instill confidence in government. That’s just another reason why government should not be involved anything dealing with health and healthcare.

Let’s make sure everyone masks, that way no one passes around viruses, even the harmless little ones that our immune system deals with every day and ones that give you the sniffles.

That way our immune systems won’t get as much exposure to pathogens and our T-cells won’t get conditioned to fight off infection and our immune systems degrade.

Then, the next year we’ll have a lot more cases of sickness from these sorts of viruses, and we’ll tell people to wear masks again, further weakening their immune systems, causing even more sickness, and even more mask-wearing...

And the cycle continues.

Yup, muzzles that likely come from a box that says somewhere on it NOT FOR USE IN HEALTHCARE SETTINGS are gonna really be helpful in preventing person-to-person transmission of an airborne respiratory virus.

That’s the ticket!

Suckers...

Ditto for Los Angeles.

Voluntary for now, wouldn’t surprise me if it became mandatory.

Exactly while we’re being inundated with viruses right now. Everyone’s immune systems have been sheltered for so long.

I’ve noticed more masks (usually very few, if any) at the grocery store on Oregon’s south coast. I think the libs all take their orders from the Portland nerve center.

Portlandia meets COVID

It is about the 14th generation of Puritan virtue signalling: developed in New England, honed in California, and now distilled in Oregon.
