WASHINGTON, Dec 7 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden on Wednesday renewed vows to secure a new ban on assault weapons in the United States as he turns up heat on lawmakers to pass legislation before his party loses control of Congress next month.
Lawmakers have shown little inclination to outlaw assault weapons since a ban on high-capacity firearms expired in 2004, but Biden is hoping to seize on outrage about the regularity of shootings to lead to greater pressure on them to change their mind.
"We did it before," Biden said of the ban at a vigil for victims of gun violence at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Washington. "We did it, and guess what? It worked ... We can do it again."

After the summer riots of Portland and other cities, where mobs of AntiFa went looking for violence, I never want to hear that there is no reason to have a semiauto with a standard-capacity magazine, ever again.
The 20-30+ round mags *are* the standard capacity and should be defined as such. :P

Were they FIXED bayonets on the end of a firearm or just one used as a common knife?
If so few bayonetings are reported is it worth using the bayonet lug as an excuse to ban a firearm?
I have two handmade spears that could do the same, and a home defense book written 55 years ago said that for home defense the homeowner should tape a knife or scissors to a broomhandle.
More people are killed with a common knife or machete than by being bayoneted with a fixed bayonet.
