Walmart CEO Doug McMillon admitted that theft has become a major issue for the chain..
he said that woke district attorneys' policies need to be 'corrected' or the company will be forced to raise prices or shut stores..
McMillon did not specify which locations have experienced the record-high level of shoplifting, but stores in LA have had to lock up most of their inventory..
Robberies there are up over 10%; critics blame DA George Gascon's policies..

Angeles Times found .. Walmarts they visited .. have now partitioned off a portion of their pharmacies where high-price health and beauty products are sold.
Now, if a shopper wants to buy expensive makeup or shampoos, they must enter the partitioned area and pay a cashier before leaving through a narrow exit back to the store.

The city has seen robberies skyrocket 10.7 percent over last year, according to Los Angeles Police Department statistics, with burglaries up nearly 13 percent and motor vehicle thefts up 8.1 percent.
Personal thefts are also up nearly 14 percent, contributing to a 7.4 increase in overall crime across the California city.
At the same time, though, robbery arrests are only up 2.7 percent — while burglary arrests are actually down 4.9 percent and motor vehicle theft arrests are down 8.2 percent from last year.
Critics have blamed woke District Attorney George Gascon for this rise in crime.

Walmart, Target, Apple and other woke corporations deserve what they’re getting.
They’re the enablers of what they’re complaining about.

Yeah, the arrests are down, the crimes have skyrocketed - they just don’t bother to arrest them.

It is not s serious crime - apparently - if the stolen item is under ~ $1000.00.. thus police, Soros’s funded DAs .. ignore the crimes.
Every store will eventually forgo as much “brick and mortar” as they currently have and go more online delivery.
And the cities - particularly the large cities - will start to empty out retail space. That’ll make more space for itinerant hovels, tent cities and homeless camps as the number of very poor increases.
And just when Christmas shoplifting season is at it’s peak.

Or they could just hire off duty cops to beef up security. 🙄
Are you serious? A Home Depot employee died yesterday, two months after being knocked out by a thug who was stealing. The cashier did not interfere with the thug in any way but just stepped out of his cashier booth to check the receipt. Now he’s dead. There is nothing in any retail store that is worth a human life. Management would rather give up the products (which are insured) than have deaths in their stores. They’d rather just have Asset Protection take the video to the cops and states’ attorneys. Much better to have the professionals go after the bad guys than task some poor elderly person with the job.

My boys are doing just fine.
Plenty of land, shovels. And lead.
Because they always hired poor old people and the thieves were knocking them down or beating them up. The people were being screamed at that they were racists and bullied.
That idea did not work at all.
Used to be store hired security, they stopped the thieves, called the cops, and the person was carted off to the pokey.
Now many of the criminals come in packs and overwhelm security.
Punishment for thievery used to work until punishment was deemed racist.
