Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) on Tuesday poured cold water on Democratic efforts to add language allowing banks to do business with state-approved marijuana businesses and permitting reform, a priority of Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), to the annual defense authorization bill.

McConnell called on Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to strip the pot-related language and Manchin’s permitting reform proposal, which he dismissed as reform “in name only,” from the defense bill.

A carpetbagging Turkish Muslim from PA and a black dude babbling about vampires didn’t help us.

Nor did Mitch and Lindsay Graham.

I think this is going to get real bad in the next two years. I think the Republicans, especially in the senate, are tired of being expected to promote conservatism on social issues, so they are going to try to get them off the table. They hope they can diffuse MAGA candidates by getting rid of social issues. Then they hope to get their preferred candidates, since the only issues they will face is a tax code that helps their corporate donors.

Legalizing marijuana is the one thing I want the Turtle to do. As things worsen, I plan on developing a Gummy habit.

If you have health care, you can go to rehab for months.
I would recommend somewhere in Malibu.

Anyone looking at the conservative movement carefully, should reach the conclusion that it reached it's zenith in the 80s under Reagan and began it's descent under Bush, Part I & II. Today, it's a nothing more than a scattered set of tribes, disagreeing on core principles. Populism is it's natural outlet, but the globalists of both parties hate the thought.

Legalize it, tax it, regulate it so kids can’t get any.

“Legalizing marijuana is the one thing I want the Turtle to do.” Yes. I quit smoking weed for 20 years, but started up again after my wife died last year. Very moderate use; mainly at night, and not every day. I’ve found the cannabis gummies to be helpful for sleeping.

I drank heavily when I was younger; quit over 30 years ago. Was also a heavy pot smoker for a long time. I can say absolutely that alcohol is way worse for you. One caveat here: the weed you can get today is WAY stronger, so you have to really be mindful of that, which I definitely am.

I might also add, relative to my FR name, I have not actually USED psychedelics since the early 1970’s; it’s just a description of what my paintings look like. My website is rickjacobiart.com for anyone who may be interested to see what I do.

Cannabis is the ultimate ‘State’s Rights’ issue.

All they have to do is take it off the scheduled drugs list. States that want to can still ban it.

Seriesly? Prior to legalization, the easiest way to get weed and other drugs was at schools.

My argument exactly. Just keep the governments mitts out of it and leave to the market place.

The federal government can still stick a hand in to regulate interstate commerce, for that matter. That’s where taxing it and keeping it away from kids comes in.
