How Democrats' New Primary Calendar Changes the Chessboard
The New York Times via Yahoo ^ | December 5, 2022 | By Blake Hounshell and Lisa Lerer

When a panel of Democratic Party insiders endorsed President Joe Biden’s preferred lineup of early presidential nominating states Friday, they didn’t just shatter the exalted status of Iowa and New Hampshire voters. They also formally aligned themselves with a demographic reckoning decades in the making, reflecting the growing clout of the racially diverse coalition that brought Biden to power — and implicitly rebuking two overwhelmingly white states that rejected him in 2020.

For political obsessives, the change — which must still be voted on by the whole committee — feels sweeping and swift.

Steve Phillips, a Democrat and author of several books on racial politics, said the changes would reward candidates who develop a deep bond with Black communities, rather than train them to appeal to rural Iowans who might not support them in November.

“You want somebody who is going to inspire and understand Black voters to be your nominee,” he said.

If Biden does not run, the new lineup is likely to scramble generations of electoral calculations.

The Democrats need candidates that Blacks will support, last time Bernie almost won the nomination w/o Black support. Can’t have that.

“Racially diverse” = catering to black states.

I think family oriented Hispanics will move toward the Republican Party.

They’re trying to energize black votes, but at this point, they already know how many anonymous mail-ins they need for swing states, so

The Iowa primary caucus was not big for that long. The first significant one was in ‘76. Few remember the top vote getter on the Democrat side that year.

The more the democrat party caters to blacks, the more evident it will be to other races and ethnic groups that, they’re not the preferred constituencies, and the democrat party will be known as The Black Party. Blacks should be happy about having representation that cases about them, but then, they’ll become less relevant in elections and in government.

Just because the Democrats want to jumble up the primary schedule, does that mean the Repubs have to follow along?

This really just makes sure the globalists corporations in charge of the Democrat Party will stay in control. Limits the chances a non-globalist uprising from the far left against the major corporations.

Our global corporations are going in for the kill worldwide right now...COVID, Ukraine, Elections, Climate Change. Local autonomy is about to be a quaint relic of a bygone era.

Yes. It’s important to have someone who has regularly demeaned and insulted them, like Joe Biden, to gain support from the Black community.

Blacks may be 14% of the population, but they ALL vote Democrat. Thus you cater to them or your party is finished/history.

I know things seem bleak as we are assaulted daily by Democrat fascism. But I think they are committing ritual hari kari.

Dems have become a limited woke identity party. These aren’t the people who pay the bills, build things and grow the food. Democrats are well on the path to becoming the Party of the useless.

They already have in large swaths of California at local and county levels. It's only a matter of time before they control the congressional, senate, governor and state legislative levels. The days when the likes of Willie Brown, Maxine Waters, etc., held enormous power in the state are all but over.

This kind of move requires the state legislatures and the state governors to cooperate. I don’t see Republican South Carolina governor Henry McMaster lifting a finger to help Joe Biden.

The author failed to mention S.C. is better suited to orchestrate vote fraud and set the stage for subsequent Primaries.

They already did in California. Look at the number of Hispanics/Latinos/ whatever they call themselves in office.
