The Supreme Court is hearing the case Monday of a Christian graphic artist who objects to designing wedding websites for gay couples, a dispute that’s the latest clash of religion and gay rights to land at the highest court.
The designer and her supporters say that ruling against her would force artists — from painters and photographers to writers and musicians — to do work that is against their faith. Her opponents, meanwhile, say that if she wins, a range of businesses will be able to discriminate, refusing to serve (b)lack customers, Jewish or Muslim people, interracial or interfaith couples or immigrants, among others.
The case comes at a time when the court is dominated 6-3 by conservatives and following a series of cases in which the justices have sided with religious plaintiffs. It also comes as, across the street from the court, lawmakers in Congress are finalizing a landmark bill protecting same-sex marriage. […]
The case being argued before the high court Monday involves Lorie Smith, a graphic artist and website designer in Colorado who wants to begin offering wedding websites. Smith says her Christian faith prevents her from creating websites celebrating same-sex marriages. But that could get her in trouble with state law. Colorado, like most other states, has what’s called a public accommodation law that says if Smith offers wedding websites to the public, she must provide them to all customers. “We just wanna come out of the closet and live like normal people.”, they said.....
Nope. Lesson learned: give em an inch and they take a mile. Now, they want to force their BS down the throats of every single human being, groom your kids and prosecute you if they can’t.
Maybe it would have been better to just leave the miserable queer SOBs in the closet to begin with.
It's called Freedom of Association. We have the right to associate, or not associate, with whomever we wish, for any reason or no reason at all. That right is currently being violated.
Pray for Lori Smith and Jack Phillips. Hold them up in your prayers.
We're also now told that 1 web designer out of dozens in the area can't refuse to do business with anyone for any reason.
This is nothing like the old restaurant bigoted practice of not serving non-white people. They weren’t asking for immorality to be celebrated, they just wanted what all the white patrons were getting, something to eat.
The ladies on the Court will all opt for “fairness,” even ACB. Roberts will be the new Kennedy lynchpin for the sodomites.
Even that is a bad example. Restaurants in much of the Jim Crow South served black customers, they just had to sit in a certain section of their facility.
Excellent point.
Religious liberties are in the Constitution...period.
This story is big, but the biggest story is the tyrant emanating from Salem Oregon and their King George the Third gun law.
Using whips and chains?
What ever happened to...
REALLY??
Romans 16:17
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
2 Thessalonians 3:6
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
1 Timothy 1:3-4
3. As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer
4. nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith.
Titus 1:11
They must be silenced, because they are ruining whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach--and that for the sake of dishonest gain.
Titus 2:15
These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
2 John 1:10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.
