Representative James Clyburn. (D-SC) said on this week’s broadcast on MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show” Republican leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy should make a deal with Democrats to get enough votes to become Speaker of the House.
Host Jonathan Capehart said, “Let’s talk about the disunity on the other side of the aisle. Current house minority leader, Kevin McCarthy, he is working hard to scare off the 218 votes he’s going to need on January 3, when they have the vote for the new House speaker. Do you think he’ll be successful in his quest for the speaker’s gavel?”

This is the exact test (trap) Gaetz has laid for McCarthy, to force him to show his true colors.
Will he form a coalition with Gaetz, or with Jeffries?
The fact the question even has to be asked is why Gaetz isn’t rubber stamping him at this point.
Guess what, he probably already made a deal 3 weeks ago.
Why? If the GOP doesn’t deliver him the votes, as a lot of people around here seem to want, then McCarthy will have to make a deal with the Dems. There is no other way around it.

The sad thing is that there are those who would rather see this than someone who, in their opinion, is not a perfect conservative become speaker. Speaker Jeffries? Is that what you are willing to accept?
If the Freedom Caucus holds firm, I don’t see how McCarthy gets across the finish line without some D votes.
