Workers making minimum wage in most areas of New York will get a pay bump at the end of December.
The minimum for workers in areas outside New York City, Long Island and Westchester County will increase from $13.20 per hour to $14.20, an increase of 7.5%, according to the state Labor Department. The pay bump means an extra $40 a week for someone working full time in a minimum wage job.
The new rate goes into effect Dec. 31.
Workers in New York City, Westchester County and Long Island already make at least $15 an hour. All fast food workers in the state also get paid a minimum wage of $15 an hour. Those minimum amounts will not increase this year.
Minimum pay rates for tipped workers like servers vary by region.
New York established a tiered schedule of minimum wage increases in 2016, with the goal of eventually raising the wage to $15 an hour everywhere. Annual increases are determined by the Division of Budget each year and are based on economic indices including the Consumer Price Index, which measures inflation.

Yep they will lap of crumbs and be grateful for feast.

This is simple math but the simpletons that are happy about the $1 won’t ever get it. They’d likely need at least $7.00 more per hour just to get to where they were 2 years ago.
They won’t get getting a raise if their employers can’t afford to keep them...
These government minimum wage increases are a MAJOR factor in inflation.
Soon a big mac will be $10, glad I don’t eat at those places anymore.
I work in New York City and I’ve been packing my lunch for years. The $25 lunches are too much and I can’t claim them on my expense report.
You can’t fix stupid. It’s a shame we allow them the franchise.
Inflation will eat up any raise coming...How can people be so stupid?
My favorite economics professor, Dr. Walter Williams, defined minimum wage as: “The rate at which laborers with a lesser market rate lose their job”.
This is yet another way government steals money. Increase wages directly increases income taxes taken from those wages.
More theft by government.
Minimum wage in this environment, quickly becomes maximum wage.
... and the price of a slice will be raised the next.
