About 15 years ago, when I (an American) was working for a Canadian energy company based in Calgary, I was listening to two co-workers talk about their herniated disks. The Canadian had been told it would be nine months or so before he could get corrective surgery. The Canadian was describing how he was having his desk redesigned to be ergonomic and setup to allow him to stand and sit as needed.
The American was describing how he was scheduled for surgery next week.

80% of healthcare costs come at the end of a person’s life. The elderly are a major voting block and source of wealth (property and money). What a better way to advocate for the welfare state by removing the costliest members of society to that welfare state and then redistributing their accumulated wealth to the voting demographic which agrees with murder and theft as part of the betterment of society.

Why didn't she just move into a single story home or accommodations with an elevator? In our country these stair-lifts can run about 5 grand. And why didn't she go to other organizations who might help. IMO she's looking for a payout.
I would suspect who gave that comment got tired of her complaining and I suspect her mouth wasn't exactly courteous.
