Initially attempts were made to portray the shooter as pretending to be "fluid" in order to beat any hate crime charges. They even found a"frozen vegetable" to give it's expert opinions. But they say questioning someone's gender status is like a crime against humanity. Even if he IS faking it, so what? Norman Bates dressed up as his mother.
