Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), the chair of the House Democratic Caucus, was elected by his colleagues on Wednesday to serve as minority leader.
Why it matters: He is the first new Democratic leader in two decades and the first Black leader of a party in Congress.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has led the caucus since 2003, announced her retirement from leadership earlier this month. "This is a moment of transition," Jeffries, 52, a lawyer and former state legislator first elected to Congress in 2012, said in a sit-down with reporters on Tuesday night. "And we stand on the shoulders of giants."

A supremacist Black Muslim
Jeffries and leader NOT allowed in the same sentence. He needs a trip to putinville.
Well Shiite. They continue to infiltrate.
BYE BYE NANZI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the ONLY thing good to come out of the election was that, I would be happy.
He got his very own chair on the porch...
YAWN
A rabid anti-semite.
Cassius Clay type of scumbag.
Wait , who’s smarter Jeffries or AOC
And yet, through the magic of progressive dishonesty, a Communist--which is theoretically at odds with Muzzlitude.
He isn’t an anti-semite, at least no more than the average Democrat. He is not at the squad level.
He comes across poorly, and as leader he’ll be the public face of the party, which is nice.
He represents today’s Democrat party.
Don’t forget he is an election denier.
Great! Now any policy disagreements will be called “Racist”.
God help us!
Jeffries has, shall we say, an unusual first name. But I believe that he is a Baptist.
I thought being an “election denier” was the same as being an “insurrectionist”.
Yes, he is a total POS like many Democrats.
But Nancy could be elected Speaker if enough Republicans balk on McCarthy. I like Jim Jordan from Ohio, but it will probably be another Mc. (McCarthy and McConnell, both spend-crazy RINOs).
Yep.
Sure represents those of us in fly-over country, doesn’t he?
