But Twitter is basically letting the users figure it all out for themselves. Perhaps THAT is what Apple fears...the absence of an overlord.
How ironic, for a firm using an apple with a bite out of it as its symbol.
What a Hateful thing to say! Nice going Cookie!
Silent on China
Sorry. I’m not going to be lectured about morality or sin by (immoral sexual deviant) Tim Cook.
Sadly, his products are so superior to the other companies that you almost have to buy them. My MacBook is 12 years old. I do have a new iPhone, but my last one lasted six years! Before going with Apple MACBOOK, I used to buy Sony or some other crap, and it would always ended up being a disaster. so until the other companies up their game, apple is not going anywhere.
‘Hate speech’ is BS
Hate speech today is anything you say another person doesn’t agree with.
banning ‘hate speech’ is the default and popular thing to do. Courage would be sticking to an unpopular decision.
On October 30, 2014 Cook publicly came out as gay in an editorial for Bloomberg Business, saying, "I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me." He consulted with Anderson Cooper, who had publicly come out himself, on aspects of the statement, and cleared the timing to ensure it would not distract from business interests. Cook had been open about his sexuality "for years", and while many people at the company were aware of his sexual orientation, he sought to focus on Apple's products and customers rather than his personal life. He ended his op-ed by writing, "We pave the sunlit path toward justice together, brick by brick. This is my brick."
Cook became the first and only openly gay CEO on the Fortune 500 list. In September 2015, Cook clarified on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, "Where I valued my privacy significantly, I felt that I was valuing it too far above what I could do for other people, so I wanted to tell everyone my truth." In October 2019, he talked about the decision and remarked on how it was thanks to LGBTQ people who had fought for their rights before him that paved the way for his success, and that he needed to let younger generations know that—in a coding analogy—he saw being gay as a feature his life had to offer rather than any problem. He hoped his openness could help LGBTQ youth dealing with homelessness and suicide hope that their situation could get better.
Doesn't sounds like he would be a big fan of Matt Walsh or LibsOfTikTok on Twitter.
“We only have one message for those who seek to push hate, division, and violence, Cook said.”
Not just hate speech, but anything said that causes “division.”
Now that is intolerance, brother.
He’s a homo pervert with a lot of power.
Don’t forget that Cook is queer. Therefore, anyone who says, “I don’t want my son molested by a drag queen” is engaging in hate speech. Stop buying and using Apple products or you are supporting a hard-left, homosexual worldview.
ooooo! nig bad corporate overpaid aging guy thinks, in error, that he can tell this military veteran what to think and say!
who died and made him god??
funny, apple is a company that SELLS goods and services..
which means y’all don’t buy, he gets no salary!
so who is the god in this case?
we are!!
“Twitter is basically letting the users figure it all out for themselves. Perhaps THAT is what Apple fears...the absence of an overlord.”
True.
Censorship has a bad name, but the original censors held what were usually elected positions and prohibited things like profiteering from or publicly exhibiting expressions that were indecent or obscene, according to community standards.
The biggest problem with censorship is when it is carried out in a top-down fashion rather than driven by community values.
Free Republic is the perfect example. People come here voluntarily because of similar interests and shared values and beliefs. If someone abuses the platform we have the “Abuse” button and admin/moderators who can remedy offending “speech”.
All social media platforms should follow this approach. Larger platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube could allow users to form their own communities and values.
What the left fears is people forming communities around beliefs and values the left connot dictate or control.
