Union Workers Lash out After Biden Betrays Them, and I Couldn't Care Less
Red State. ^ | November 29, 2022 | Bonchie

Posted on 11/30/2022 4:06:36 AM PST by george76

A looming railroad strike is threatening to shut down much of the nation’s commerce, creating an economic and humanitarian disaster, and Joe Biden is finally making moves to prevent it. What’s his solution? He’s taking the coward’s way out, calling for Congress to put union workers in their place despite the fact that they make up a large percentage of the Democratic Party base.

That’s going over about as well as you’d imagine. A fair warning that the language in the following posts is a bit frosty, but it represents the anger being shown.

...

Full sellout from the White House for the majority of rail workers who rejected the deal the President brokered, preemptively denying them the right to strike.

This was the “which side are you on?” moment, and the White House chose the railroad bosses.

...

It is exceedingly rare in the US for the White House to have direct control over union negotiations. This one was a layup. Put forward a bill to include paid sick days. Costs the rail carriers a fraction of their insane profits. Improves freight rail service. And Biden refuses.

...

Words cannot express how f...ing livid I am at this administration… Biden prides himself on how he cared for his family after tragedy. I could never do that because the people in power, LIKE HIM, would rather screw workers than stand up to fucking robber barons.”

...

Rail carriers made $20 billion last year in profit on top of $196 billion in stock buybacks last year!!! And they’re willing to tank the US economy

...

Do you know what’s so great about this? The fact that I don’t care at all. Not even a little bit. Union workers have had decades to sort their politics out, and for the most part, they have still voted overwhelmingly for Democrats. In 2020, a shift by some of them away from Donald Trump and over to Joe Biden probably decided the election in blue-collar states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. They chose that self-destructive path, and I’ve got no sympathy for them now having to suffer under the consequences of that decision.

Yes, I realize that some union membership, especially dealing with the railroad industry, is compulsory. Still, the same far-left hacks are voted into positions of leadership within those unions, and the money keeps flowing to Democrat coffers. Further, the vast majority of union workers keep voting for Democrats themselves. What do they get in return? Absolutely nothing, especially if we are talking about the transportation and energy sectors that Biden and his allies are looking to make obsolete through draconian policies.

At some point, it’s no one’s fault but their own that they keep putting up with this abuse. Think about it. These railroad unions were so subservient to Biden that they agreed to a tentative deal to push the fight off until after the last election knowing they’d later try to renegotiate it. No doubt, the White House gave them a wink and a nod, as well. These union members screwed the United States populace, postponing a political disaster for Democrats that could have cost them the election, thinking they were going to get their pound of flesh afterward. That they are now being betrayed is actually poetic.

Honestly, I hope Republicans have the backbone to not bail Biden out here by voting in Congress to force the railroad workers to keep working. He set himself on fire with one of his chief constituencies. Let him burn. Maybe, just maybe, these blue-collar unions will finally learn their lesson in the process.

They are not asking for much. I’m just surprised that they feel betrayed. They had to know old lunch bucket Joe wouldn’t stand up like a man.

I think Unions were sort of the canary in the coal mine years ago —

Plenty of the workers were solid Americans who had good values and just wanted to be treated fairly and then left alone.
But the Union leadership didn’t care what the workers wanted. The Union leadership supported far Left politicians who hated America and had goals other than helping American labor.

Today, it’s our turn.
Plenty of voters are solid Americans who have good values and just want to be treated fairly and then left alone.
But our government doesn’t care what the voters want. Our “elected officials” hate America and have goals other than helping American citizens.

Do you mean like the idiot voters in Washinton state were going to finally learn their lesson and retire their idiot senator Patty Murray?

If Congress would just ‘nationalize’ the railroads, they could grant the unions everything they want, plus.
Utopia looms, all that is needed is for Biden and the Uniparty to have the nerve to pull the trigger.

I started to put a sarcasm tag on this one, but after rereading it, I am not so sure. It could be a prognostication.
Yeah, I really think we are at that point.

From the article: “This was the “which side are you on?” moment, and the White House chose the railroad bosses.”

Warren Buffet, one of the wealthiest people on the planet, owns one of America’s largest railroads. Joe sided with Warren, not the union workers.

The alternative to the Keystone pipeline is transporting oil by rail, most of it on the railroad Warren Buffett owns. Joe killed the pipeline.

Joe loves to talk about his love for unions, but when push comes to shove he lines up with big money.

The Democrats are not the party of the working man anymore. They haven’t been for some time. They are the party of the Bicoastal Elites and a few mostly ethnic grievance groups.

Who pushes the disastrous trade deals that crushed blue collar jobs in manufacturing? Democrats.

Who is for open borders and the flood of cheap labor it brings in? Democrats.

Who is for driving energy costs to the moon and crushing jobs in the oil and coal industries in the name of Gaia Worship? Democrats.

Who scorns and insults both rural and working people every last chance they get from Hollywood movies to TV, to public commentary? Democrats.

Biden controls both houses of Congress. If Biden wanta to screw over the Unions the stupid gullible Republicans need to sit on their damn hands. Democrats can do this all by themselves.

Trumpka was a small town flunky union hack from a small flunky town. I know. I used to have a job in that town.

Respectfully (this is a tough place sometimes), no average person remembers Trumka’s slamming Xiden, even less know who he was. Xiden’s string pullers were saying gas prices were already going up before the grown ups returned to controlling the WH, and then down the road blamed Putin too.

This is a battle that the GOP should sit out other say they support collective bargaining, and criticize 24/7 Xiden’s lack of leadership which continues to harm Americans and all Xiden’s illegal alien guests to suffer. They should do nothing to advance any legislation written entirely by demonkkraps unless it has specific provisions to defund things, like no more 87,000 extra IRS agents, .... Sorry Xiden, you standing in draped red background clench-fisted, demonized the GOP right before the 2022 (s)election. You find your 60 votes some other time.
