The United States will provide Ukraine with aid worth $53 million to support the conflict-struck country's electrical system, the State Department said in a note it sent to media outlets on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the funds will be used for "the acquisition of critical electricity grid equipment," including "distribution transformers, circuit breakers, surge arresters, disconnectors, vehicles and other key equipment."
The announcement came amid power and heat cuts Ukraine has been facing recently, for which Kiev and the West accused Russia.

President Biden’s administration is scrambling to track the nearly $20 billion in military aid it has sent to Ukraine as Republicans warn of impending audits when they take control of the House in January.
Likely future House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has said his party will not be giving Ukraine a “blank check” to fend off Russia’s invasion. A potential audit would determine how much, if any, of the U.S. aid is ending up in the wrong hands. The Biden administration’s previous tracking efforts have inspected only a fraction of the aid provided to the country.
While some staunch Ukraine allies fear Republicans will cut off aid to the country, there remains widespread support for ramping up oversight efforts in Congress.

They are laughing about this elsewhere. The complete stupidity of it makes me wonder if it isn’t just another excuse for laundering.
Or is it helping a US company fight inflation?
Give Russia a few days to destroy it all again...haha.
Remember when the Brits and New Zealand sent electrical help to Chechnya after Russia bombed their grid?
😂😂😂😂😂
So another 50 million will be sent to Ukraine with a cover story. Why do they even bother with the cover stories? They have a blank check to send however much money they can to Ukraine. Luckily for them, 33% of people are in favor of defeating Russia no matter what the cost. Another 33% are indifferent which is enough to constitute a majority.
Exactly. About to get worse in a few weeks.
You are a Putin boot licking butt kisser!!! (/s)
EXCEPT Americans. Look at our infrastructure failing.
Ok. Bidenista. You love his platform so much...did you vote for him too?
Had havy rain over last couple days - twice the power went off for a short period. Obviously we could use electrical monies for many areas in th us rathr than Ukraines.
How about sending that cash to hurricane ravaged Florida?
Why? Russia will just knock it out again. Democrats must need some 2024 campaign cash.
Indeed Biden has already lost 20 billion that nobody can find.
Hunter winks
@canuck It doesn’t matter how long it took to type it all up as that is a Red Herring from you, canuck.
You have to prove what was incorrect that was typed.
Attacking him personally means you failed at doing that.
Please try to not be over emotional but instead rational about these things.
