Gun control advocate Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said Sunday that Democrats in the Senate “probably” do not have the votes to pass a ban on “assault weapons.”
The Hill noted that CNN’s Dana Bash asked Murphy on State of the Union if Democrats have the votes to secure an “assault weapons” ban.
Murphy responded, “Probably not.
“But let’s see if we can try to get that number as close to 60 as possible,” he added. “If we don’t have the votes, then we’ll talk to Senator Schumer and maybe come back next year with maybe an additional senator and see if we can do better.”
Murphy also noted that even if Democrats could ban “assault weapons,” it would not necessarily mean high-profile shootings would end.

It's a big, scary gun with high-capacity magazines, bayonet lugs, a pistol grip, a bump stock and is capable of firing automatically several hundred clips of ammunition. Most of them are ghost guns and have ammunition that will guide in on LGBTQs.

Not overturned in court. The legislation had a sunset clause and it expired without being renewed.

The federal ban passed in 1994 was not a permanent ban but was set to expire after ten years in 2004. This ban unfortunately was not overturned.
Thanks to the recent SCOTUS decision in Bruen, we can expect the California ban to be overturned any day now by Judge Benitez, known by some here in California as “Saint Benitez”.
I’m hoping Judge Benitez will include a permanent injunction that will quickly be affirmed by SCOTUS.
I wouldn’t have complied anyway.

My son lives in NYC and was here for Thanksgiving. I wanted to be able to give him ‘something’ as a protection but there is NOTHING that effing city allows for its normal citizens. No pistol, rifle, knife, Taser or even pepper spray (to my knowledge). It’s a pretty helpless feeling and nothing to be ‘thankful’ for. DEMOCRATS did this.
