Would STILL require Salem Oregon’s approval, and they’re not about to give up ANY land/money/power.

I heard a cd of the late Jim Rohn (one of Anthony Robbins’ inspirations and mentors—but Rohn distanced himself from him). (Speech was possibly 2012??)

Rohn said “I was born in Idaho. They say thousands of disgruntled California liberals are moving out of their state because the taxes, corruption and incentives to be on entitlements are too much for them. Many are moving to Idaho. But Idahoans are saying don’t move here with your politics. Stay out of Idaho. We love our state. We don’t want you here.”

RE: Stay out of Idaho. We love our state. We don’t want you here.”

And how do the citizens of Idaho propose to stop this exodus to their state?

This will not make things better.

It will make two states more polarized.

Now try getting the Leftist government in Oregon back into
the land of reality. It will be even more like California,
and be worse by far than it has been.

Good luck with that.

I was born and raised in Idaho and owned property there and paid taxes on it even after my work took me to California. A few years later I was able to move back to Idaho and some of my neighbors bristled at my California plates before I was able to change them.

I finally got into a verbal dispute with one and asked him "Where you you born? I'm an Idaho native." He sheepishly had to admit he'd moved to Idaho from back East, and had only lived there a few years. Funny how that works.

No legal process however, “When in the course of human events it becomes necessary...”

> In San Bernardino County, with more than 2 million residents, real estate developer Jeff Burum proposed Measure EE as a way to leave California and create the new state of Empire

Sorry, New York is "The Empire State", it's the state nickname, it's on our license plates, the Empire State Building, etc.

There are 300,000 words in the English language. Pick a different one.

I think there's a very good argument for States to be differentiated by culture, politics, and so on.

The United States originated as Colonies, and the Colonies were separate groupings of people differentiated by culture, politics, religion, ethnicity, etc. The idea of maintaining States (rather than throwing everything into a single Federal stewpot) was explicitly and specifically to retain those differentiations, so that citizens could live in and support a state that best represented them.

I live in rural Upstate New York, and would be very pleased to separate New York City from the rest of the State -- we have nothing in common with those city dwellers.

If Oregon's population is divided so strongly, then it makes perfect sense to split the State, and see if Idaho is willing to absorb the conservative folks in eastern Oregon. It is just harkening back to the original concept of the States.

Yep, just because something HASN’T been done doesn’t mean it SHOULDN’T be done. Where there is a WILL there is a WAY.

Exactly. I don’t see Oregon approving this even a little.

Just goes to show people are patriotic to their states. Where we choose to live matters.

Never fear, the democrats will do something to crush this movement. They never allow power to slip away from them.

The area that includes San Bernardino, Ca is called the Inland Empire and I suppose that’s why he chose the name Empire.

Most people leaving CA for Idaho are our sorts.

Idaho’s liberal problem is mostly MS millenials from Seattle.

CA liberals will move to Texas or Colorado or GA before ID. And a lot of them will stop in WA or Bend, OR and stay there.

Well.

Liberals ignore whatever laws they don’t want to obey.

i’ll keep hammering the same points around here.
Ignore whatever BS Oregon does, and ask Idaho’s legislature. if they say no, it’ll be a lot harder to deal.

We didn’t ask good ole King George for his okay to break off from the UK did we?
