But smelly pants said the economy is roaring.. what gives?

The stupid figures the guberment is showing an increase of sales is misleading. Sure people are spending more—MORE for basics like groceries and fuel but getting less for their money spent. So if the truth be known total sales are down.

Oh, yeah, I look forward to Black Fridays. /sarc

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. I’m guessing the “increased sales” are total dollar amounts, not units moved.

I have a friend who loves to do Black Friday shopping. He’s nuts. He goes to the stores and lines up for the door-opening at midnight. I just shake my head...
On the other hand, he did snag a big-screen TV for a hundred bucks one year.

And, lots of stupid people just voted to continue...high gas prices, sky rocketing inflation, shortages and supply problems.

I don’t bother with Black Friday or Christmas shopping. Period. Haven’t purchased a Christmas gift for anyone since 2016 and everyone knows I will not accept a Christmas gift either. I might send out cards but I’m through with the commercialism and bastardization of Christ’s birth.

Yep. Just like “job growth”. Yeah, because folks had to go get second jobs just to eat.

Smelly pants thinks the economy is soaring because gets his 10%, lives in subsidized housing, presidential perks, and has lots of money. He can buy what ever he wants.
Time to end the presidential perks and have the President pay for everything.

After indulging in a Thanksgiving feast, Americans are waking up and heading to the stores in search Black Friday bargains — but this year inflation is weighing on shoppers heavier than last night’s turkey. No, we're not. Haven't spend a dime on that Dec. 25th holiday in years.

My wife already picked up some nice kitchen utensils and appliances over the past year to prepare that food...God is good.

Back when I actually did Christmas shopping in stores (before there was an online option), I would wait until the very last week, usually the day before Christmas Eve. Mostly the gifts I bought for others was books, music (like CD box sets), things at Sharper Image and other "edgier" type products that I knew nobody already had. No fuss, no stress. Got it all done in one day at one shopping mall with something like a sit down burger joint so I could get a burger and couple of beers in between.
Everybody always told me I had the best gifts.

Exactly. A perfect example is Walmart. Like the article stated, Walmart chopped their “big” sale into the 4 Mondays before thanksgiving, all online. They closed the physical stores on Thanksgiving, and really didn’t have the traditional Black Friday blockbuster ad. Many other retailers offered online deals before or on Thanksgiving also; most were online with home delivery or order and pick up at store. Combine that with this year there doesn’t seem to be the must have/can’t find “hot” item.

He paid his own money, to have one of those telescreen monitors pipe propaganda into his home, admonishing him to go buy more stuff?
I’m surprised they don’t give them out for free.

I did black fri sales Once while visiting family - that was plenty enough for me. Didn’t buy much as the mall was insanely busy. I think many were there just to be a part of the crowds.
