Yep. Just like “job growth”. Yeah, because folks had to go get second jobs just to eat.
You have to look for the disclaimer of “inflation-adjusted” when looking at sales numbers.
Revenues are up...because it takes more dollars to purchase the same amount of goods and services than it did a year ago. Sales amount in dollars is revenue. The devil is in the details.
Just a few weeks ago, the market reacted to the “good sales numbers,” and the “not adjusted for inflation” disclaimer was merely a footnote...just before the election of course.
