Maryland's outgoing Republican Gov. Larry Hogan is laying the groundwork to challenge former President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.
Trump was first to officially jump into the 2024 race - doing so last Tuesday from Mar-a-Lago, a week after his party suffered a disappointing midterm result.
But Hogan - from the moderate, anti-MAGA wing of the party - visited the key early caucus and swing state of Nevada last weekend, to address the annual Republican Jewish Coalition conference.
The Washington Examiner reported Wednesday that he's also set up a series of meetings with donors and grassroots activists after Thanksgiving.
And will launch a PAC called 'A Better Path Forward' in Annapolis, Maryland's capital, next week.

“Is Hogan delusional? Or just a crook hoping to cash in on some Deep State GOPe donations and pocket the dough?”
As an escapee from MD, I’d have to say the answer is “Yes!”
If people outside of DC/MD/VA see his name on a ballot, the response will be, “Larry who?”
I’m looking forward to Trump putting a beat down on Larry
Just ask Soros, he tell you... (spit)
Christie as VP?
Two bloated RINO’s exceeding 600+ pounds.
Hogan will never see 8%.
Slogans go all the way back to the revolution.

If anything, Hogan will siphon off what little interest is split among Krispy, Mailman Jr., Lizard, and even Pompouspeo.
Can't resist the lure of free jets, free food (and Hogan's a feeder), tiny crowds, a little cable time, and a book deal.
He will get destroyed in the Iowa caucus. Curb-stomped by Trump. And that will be that.
Most of those were real slogans, but some of the others may not have been. Two misses on the website. They left out Jimmy Carter’s “Why Not the Best?” Which is just as well, considering how things turned out. And Obama’s poster said “Hope” but his slogan or mantra was “Hope and Change.” I was skeptical about “Rejuvenated Republicanism,” but yes, that was a slogan of the Harrison campaign.
It’s the Internet so they were bound to get a couple wrong. A wonder more weren’t.
I remembered the Tippecanoe one and the Chicken in Every Pot. Slogans have been around forever, probably back in the Roman era as well.
Yep. The "Not Trump" wing of the GOP will ensure Trump wins the primary by running a dozen mediocre candidates who all cancel each other out.
Unlike 2016 though, Trump will be soundly defeated in the general election.
2024 is shaping up to be a loss.
I would not want Hogan as the nominee even if I thought he was the only Republican who could win. He’d do lots of damage to the conservative cause.
That's a given if nothing is done about voter fraud.
