I heard of a CSM who tried cocaine for the first time at a party during his Terminal Leave. He went in to out-process a few days later, and whaddya know, his number came up for urinalysis. All his decades of service down the tubes, no retirement. Should he have tried coke? Heck no. But all those years, gone...
And then there was the Lt Col who got popped on urinalysis for prescription pain killers. They’d been prescribed for her, legit. But she took some after the prescription had expired. Again, busted out, no retirement...

As long as Ms Milley and Biden are in command, I’d say don’t even dare enlist, rejoin or whatever. DEI is not your friend in the military, and they’ll (Milley and Biden) will sacrifice your life to hide what’s going on with son Hunter and all the other stuff.
My guess is your brother-in-law already had some relevant experience. The navy guys they’re talking about hiring would, I’m guessing, have little relevant experience. I recall the 57-end date information. Fifty-seven, by the way, was when I started having medical issues for the first time ever.
BTW, someone who is forty-one and thinking about joining the navy, my guess is they have had little success in whatever you are doing now. One has to wonder why, when most of us are in our peak earning years someone would be joining the navy at the lowest rank. I’m imagining the “L” sign over the forehead.

Exactly. We are friends with the head of HR at the regional hospital here. He said that half of the applicants for all jobs at the hospital (from orderlies to physicians) are rejected because the applicants can’t pass a drug test or the criminal background check.

I have seen more tattoos at the beach on women than I ever did in the military on guys when it was only males serving. Dating myself I guess .
I retired from the USAF at 41. While I enjoyed my time while I was in, I never missed it for a second when I retired. It is for a young person to put up with the crap you have to go through. I can’t imagine trying to start in the military at 41. It would not work, for the person or the Navy.
