We need a leader who will be an open and honest broker, facilitating the kind of comity that inspires all members of Congress to come together. Why not eliminate massive, multi-subject bills? We should be handling more streamlined, single-subject bills. And, we should make sure every member has at least 72 hours to read every bill before it comes to the floor. Robust debate should be encouraged, as well as the opportunity for members to offer amendments on legislation.
The Republicans in Congress have decided it’s better to cling to the status quo than to make change. I was told in 2020 that we were in the minority and shouldn’t make changes to our leadership. This year, I was told we would have a “red wave” gaining 25 seats or more, so we wouldn’t want to change our leader, that our leaders earned the right to lead again.
Now I am told that we will barely have a three-seat majority, so we must not change leaders in order to protect unity.
I disagree. I believe it is time to make a change. Those thoughts are most immutable. Our current candidate for speaker doesn’t have the 218 votes necessary to become speaker on January 3, 2023.
I do not believe he will ever get to 218 votes, and I refuse to assist him in his effort to get those votes.
In the end, I must concur with my constituents: it is time to make a change at the top of the House of Representatives. I cannot vote for the gentleman from California, Mr. McCarthy.

UNIPARTY, nothing changes.
You didn't..................
Unity on what?
Your turn will come Andy. Patience!
Good. The wonder weenie shouldn’t have even won his election, he’s such a weenie, but in a sense, it was good that he did, since we’re hanging at 218.
But with that aside, nobody in their right minds should be putting him back in the Speaker’s post. There are probably actual good, decent, VIRTUOUS conservative Republicans in that caucus who could have that post, rather than some squish who’s probably on the take from Ukraine.
Biggs would let a Democrat become Speaker because he’d rather have someone other than McCarthy as Speaker, putting them third in line for the Presidency. I don’t see that as being conservative.
Andy Andy Andy, that is not how banana republics work... now off to the re-education camps for you sir.
Jk. Glad he’s trying, but he’s up against a mighty powerful tyrannical uniparty cabal. God speed to him and God protect him.
“Kevin McCarthy Wins GOP Vote for Speaker Post”
That was preliminary. McCarthy has to actually get 218 votes on the floor of the House of Representatives. The House is not like the Senate.
We need to bench the GOPe.
“Biggs would let a Democrat become Speaker because he’d rather have someone other than McCarthy as Speaker, putting them third in line for the Presidency. I don’t see that as being conservative.”
No, they’re putting rules in place that only a Republican could become Speaker (see below story).
Yes, nothing will change. Just like our current election fiasco. As long as it benefits them, nothing will change. Both parties use these obscene, bloated mega-bills to their advantage.
The current set of House R Leadership, McCarthy, Scalise are RINOs/DeepState.
Possibly you may remember that the R's promised to ELimiNATE Obamacare during Trumps' FIRST term.
That did not happen and this current crop of R leadership is identical to the last crop.
Definition of Insanity - keeping the current RINO leadership in place
“The House is not like the Senate.”
Thanks, I kept reading he won, but I guess he hasn’t yet. Although, he will get enough Democrat votes to win. The Democrats will want a RINO in vs any true conservative. :(
Fact is, when all the Republicans in the House voted, they majority voted for McCarthy. So if it isn't him...it's a Democrat.
Well, that is exactly what the R House leadership in the Texas House does - Do you consider Texas conservative - it is not and we have a RINO Governor.
To take it to the next level - This Frog would prefer to be cooked as quickly as possible versus the slow torture it finds itself in right now
No worries, the rest of the Swamp will vote for him.
There already has been a RINO say that if the GOP can't agree on a Speaker, he's open to voting for a Democrat. So we won't get Dems crossing the aisle to vote for McCarthy -- we'll see a RINO or two crossing the aisle to vote for a Democrat if the GOP won't unite behind the guy who has the majority support within the caucus.
Look, I'd like a conservative Speaker as well. But that means you have to elect a majority of conservatives in the caucus so we can win the vote within the GOP caucus. But if we can't win that vote among just Republicans, then we have to vote for the guy who does have majority support within the caucus because otherwise, a Democrat is going to win.
We need a leader who will be an open and honest broker, facilitating the kind of comity that inspires all members of Congress to come together.
Can’t agree with this part at all. That sounds like caving to Dems.

Agree fully with this sentiment. These giant omnibus bills are disgusting. It allows them to bury pork throughout. You can’t get rid of that pork because then you are accused of trying to cancel something else buried in the bill.
