Former President Donald Trump took aim at the entrenched Washington swamp by promoting three major reforms while kicking off his 2024 campaign for the White House.
. . .
The 45th president renewed calls for congressional term limits, campaign finance reform and a lifetime ban on lobbying by former members of Congress and Cabinet officials.
“To further drain the swamp, I will push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on members of Congress,” he said. “It’s time.”
That suggestion immediately drew a standing ovation from the audience.
“And I will ask for a permanent ban on taxpayer funding of campaigns, a lifetime ban on lobbying by former members of Congress and Cabinet members,” the former president said.
“I see what they make when they leave the White House or they leave Congress and they’re paid millions and millions and millions of dollars a year. No, you have to have a ban.”
Trump added: “We want a ban on members of Congress getting rich by trading stocks with insider information.”

. . . .
However, his efforts were met with revulsion and resistance from the establishment class — not only from within the bowels of the entrenched D.C. swamp but also from its corporate media allies and minions in academia and Hollywood.
Little did any of us realize just how insidiously the establishment class had burrowed itself into the deepest recesses of our political machinery and of society itself.

Our elected types have too much money, too much power.....and too much visibility.
I want to rein them in.......and shut them up.
Move all the agencies out of the capitol
How about a ban on in-kind campaign contributions? Or making such illegal? Such as “The View” and other MSM and Social Media propaganda outlets?
Nobody inside the fences will want these laws.
What I would like to see is a room where a lobbyist could meet with a member of congress. The meeting is recorded, transcribed and published.
Samantha, have you been living under a rock? You are in your mid 30s, earned your bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Temple University, so you are bright. But honestly, you wrote that?
Add the same for any decree exempting illegal aliens.
We’re going to have to fight like hell to get our country back. The corporations have joined with the UN and many governments to destroy the middle class using “global warming” (which is just a made up tool of theirs) and now the vaccines to get us under control and save the world’s resources for themselves instead of having an affluent middle class eating and traveling around using jet fuel, etc. that they want for themselves.
I suspect if DJT doesn’t make it then neither do we. He’s our best shot and the ONLY one who with any power who has stepped up to defy them.
Congress purposefully gave themselves immunity from insider trading
What I’d like to see is a law where individuals could only donate to politicians that directly represent them.
No out of state donations. Can’t donate to district 5 if you live in district 6.
Can’t stop the PACS but this may help a little.
Congress doesn’t have to approve it. As you say, and article V convention can approve it. It can be sent to the states, and 75% must approve of it.
Term limits has extremely broad support. It is the one thing that might actually get an amendment.
Add that any government decree shutting down businesses will immediately trigger a raise freeze for those in Congress who approved it as well as all Federal employees for 365 days from the end of such shutdowns.
These self-serving bastards dared shut down the very businesses whose taxes pay their salaries.
That requires, among other things, that he first be reelected President.
That, in turn, requires that we defeat the demonicRAT ballot-harvesting and electoral fraud machine.
If you’re trashing Trump, YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
If you’re trashing DeSantis, YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
If you’re trashing Youngkin, YOU’RE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
Etc.
Quit being part of the problem.
Agree!
That would change the dynamics of an election for the better. While I argue that choosing the lesser of two evils makes sense from a survival perspective, being able to vote against the greater evil offers a voter an even greater, more meaningful voice and certainly would be a more satisfying exercise.
I would modify DJT's challenge to provide that only taxpayers (local, county, state or federal) who are validly registered voters (established residents of a particular state) are able to donate what would be a set amount by each state.
a ban on members of Congress trading stocks on insider information
on top of the fact that insider trading is already illegal...
but go for it
What say you, TDS FReocons?
It is a sweet deal. That is the reason they put up such a kabuki theater of “resistance” to each other. Nobody wants to queer the gravy train.
Even the finest is corrupted when he sees all the money and power.
Sorry bastards.
Might as well throw in Clean Elections too
The last thing in the world I would want would be to have you beside me in a foxhole during battle.
YOU like the word "QUIT" don't you?
