Minutes before Trump announcement, DeSantis receives standing ovation at Republican confab

ORLANDO – Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida received a hero’s welcome on Tuesday night, as he addressed an audience of leading Republican minutes before former President Donald Trump announced he was launching a 2024 White House bid.

DeSantis, who last week won a landside re-election victory for a second term steering Florida, garnered a standing ovation from the audience as he delivered a keynote conversation at the Republican Governors Association’s winter meeting in Orlando, according to multiple sources in the room.

According to one source, DeSantis spotlighted his "impressive re-election campaign" and how he won Maimi-Dade County, connecting with Hispanic voters.

Another source told Fox News that governor received an "enthusiastic" response as he "recapped the Florida blueprint and the path to winning Hispanics, women, and independents."

And a third source added that the speech received a very warm reception from an audience that is energized about the possibilities of taking the DeSantis model and applying it to battleground states across the country.

Watched it on another channel. I knew hannity was hoping he’d get post speech interview. Alas Trump will not wrap up in less than an hour. And fox will always cut off Trump’s speech. Ya. We wan to see Laura more than we want to see the next president- Trump talk about what he wants to do

Who cut in? Laura? She signed a multi million contract soon after the 2020 farce.

What would have been nice is if the governors association had spent first night of their conference supporting Trump.

Dems rarely shoot their own.

Real America’s Voice is the best!

We keep it on most days/evenings (even when we’re not home :), like we USED to do, years ago, with Faux News.

Their election day coverage was EXCELLENT....reporters embedded, all across the nation.

Tonight’s announcement coverage was TOP NOTCH!!

And, agree....great interviews and insight, that you won’t find, elsewhere. (We used to also watch OANN....RAV is running circles around them.)

The date of Governor’s conference was set for a long time. Trump picked this night to make his announcement, which is fine, but nobody should expect them to change their agenda just because he picked this night of all nights to make an announcement. Particularly when there was no way to actually know if he would announce tonight until he actually did.

Sorry, I don’t defend what they did. It may have been scheduled before—but agendas are often changed If they were not all fair-weather friends and turn-coats, they could have been a part of the the announcement by the guy “who ‘brung’ many of ‘em to the dance”...Hmm they could have done a remote in—especially since so many of them approved remote learning in schools.

I am sure many true supporters changed their schedules to be there in person. People even came from Idaho to wave flags on the bridge in Palm Beach...

We will see how many congratulatory remarks come from the governors over the next 24 hours...My bet is zero.

This election was held one week ago this evening, and races were stolen...Yet within 24 hours, major orchestration of opposition to Trump. Trump’s fault, etc. The powers that be are doing their best and working overtime to split the party and tear down the one they fear because he cannot be bought and has been tested by fire for 6 years.

Ironically, even tho we have a senile at 1600 PA Ave, I have seen hit pieces tonight on various sites—Trump did not have energy, etc. alluding to age...We live in serious times. Yet if he had been more passionate, he would be panned as being angry or something.

Geez today willard Romney saying Trump too old, yet willard is only one year younger.

The Republic is at stake, and it is clear most GOP are GOPe... and happy to go along to get along or get paid.

We keep RAV on too - unless watching a movie or something for escapism* ;)

Ladies at our house are really liking the new Hallmark alternative, GAC Christmas movie lineup. A number of Hallmark stars left when Hallmark went woke including the CEO.

“Well, it’s certainly possible for two people to compete for the nomination without it getting terminally nasty. Been done before in every Presidential election I can remember.”

That won’t happen this time because the circumstances are much different.

We could run a ‘gentlemanly affair’ in the primary and the democrats and the media will still call us racist, nazi, sexist, homophobic, environmental destroyers, etc.

Trump vs DeSantis is going to get very nasty because there is no down side to it not being nasty.

Thx!

I agree. I wish the media and anti-Trumpers, and democrats would stop trying to invent friction between Trump and DeSantis. We love our Governor DeSantis and need him here in Florida for four more years. We also love our President Trump!

Does anyone in here ever look at the constitution? Sure Trump can have DeSantis on the ticket but the electors in FL can only choose one of them

Okay, so? What does one have to do with another?

Very STRONG common sense point. Thank you!

Fox is NO better than CNN or MSNBC... ALWAYS trying to stir something up by desperately trying to make SOMETHING out of NOTHING.

DeSantis was applauded because he has done a TOP RATE job of leading and serving the voters of Florida.

Trump is always applauded by everyday Americans for very much the same reason of having done a top rate job.

Until the leftist/RINO/globalist filth's institutionalized vote fraud is stopped, a Republican will never win the presidency again.

And it will be stopped, just like the mutilation of children, the murder of full term infants, the mainling of single motherhood, the vilification of Christian morality, the self-mutilation of youth, the mainlining of ghetto thug culture and the introduction (and implementation) of communism and marxism as viable cultural blueprints for America were stopped dead in their tracks by righteous, virtuous, brave Americans. (SARC).

After hassling with voting from overseas in 2020, I pledged to never vote again if the massive fraud leading to Biden's installation was not effectively put to an end. You know the saying, "Fool me once etc. . . "

My country, 'tis of thee, land of perversity, of thee I cringe.

Anyone too dense to see this pattern of the Left and MSM attempting to destroy both by incessantly attempting to create conflict is too stupid to be allowed to vote. The Left and the RINO’s are incessantly stoking conflict in order to destroy both and divide the MAGA movement into factions and eliminate MAGA as a threat to the DC Establishment. THIS is so very obvious it simply cannot be ignored.

Either Desantis steps aside or joins Trump, or we lose. That's just reality. This isn't just going to go away.

Then we lose anyways because Trump doesn't win back a single state he lost in '20.

It's a moot point.

Trump would never pick someone like DeSantis who overshadows him in competence and leadership and DeSantis would never attach himself to Trump and see his political future go down like the Titanic.

Trump will pick Kari Lake.
