To be fair when the virus broke out and we witnessed every country down to small African republics locking down their borders I thought for sure some sort of bioweapon had escaped the laboratory.

Intelligence agencies sounding the alarm to every country imaginable perhaps.

There’s no reason DeSantis would have thought differently.

If we are going to go there, Trump got rolled by Fauci, rolled by Sessions, rolled by Paul Ryan, rolled by Pelosi, rolled by McConnell. It’s not 4d chess, he’s just an easy mark.

“So many people on FR seem to believe that the leftists rigged every election in the country EXCEPT Florida.

Did they ever think that they did rig FL to help DeSantis? “

Nope, I never thought that, primarily because it’s a bunch of garbage. If you have proof otherwise, lay it out, right now in detail. If you don’t have proof then admit to spreading lies.

Ron did a phenomenal job. Everyone made some poor decisions early, save for Noem.

Noem made other poor decissions outside of Covid to make up for it.

The Covid Suceptible population of SD don't live in SD during Covid season, so it would have been a easy call for her (they are snowbirding in FL, TX and AZ)

Just made my very first political donation in more than 2 years to DonaldJTrump.com. Been waiting for this moment for more than 2 years. His speech tonight was exactly what America needs to hear.
My governor is a good man. His policies are good for our state but, Ron is not Donald Trump. Too politically calculating. Totally lacking in Charisma and Presence.
Ron is Cruz, 2.0. Good policy positions but, totally lacking in presence. He’s done very well in Florida. A state that is virtually controlled by Republicans at almost every level.
It’s like hitting softballs with a Fungo Bat here for him.

Your first paragraph is correct. What followed is probably laughable to those elderly SD “snowbirds” who were basking under several feet of snow.

In fairness, I’d say very few people actually got it exactly
right in the beginning.

Some folks went out on a limb, and things turned out well for
them. It could have gone another way, but I’m glad it
didn’t.

I’m not faulting Ron for what took place early on. As the
top official in a state, you’ve got a lot of responsibility,
and you’ve got ‘thought to be’ officials swearing you need
to do “X”. You’re between a rock and a hard place.

I think Trump was even more between a rock and a hard place
because the whole left hated him, and then he had the
healthy agencies attacking him and giving out terribly
inaccurate information.

I have no doubt some of the government agencies cost lives,
they just hated Trump so much.

At any rate, I grade Ron an east A- on this.

After August ‘21, anyone pushing vaccines on anyone wasn’t doing it based on science and Desantis wasn’t.

There were 4,787 deaths involving COVID in the state of Florida in August 2020. As for "all cause" mortality, deaths in Florida in August 2020 were at 143% of "expected deaths."

A year later, in August 2021, there were 10,407 deaths involving COVID in the state of Florida (an increase of some 117%). As for "all cause" mortality, deaths in Florida in August 2021 were at 184%.

In September 2020, there were 2,023 deaths involving COVID in the state of Florida. With respect to "all cause" mortality, deaths in Florida in September 2020 were at 120% of "expected deaths."

A year later, in September 2021, there were 8,335 deaths involving COVID in Florida, an increase of some 312%. "All cause" deaths in Florida in September 2021 was at 166% of "expected deaths."

I think these data provide some perspective on the effectiveness of Florida's pandemic response in the late summer of 2021 (when millions had been vaxxed), compared to the late summer of 2020 (when no one had been vaxxed).

If you’re trashing Trump, you’re part of the problem.
If you’re trashing DeSantis, you’re part of the problem.
If you’re trashing Youngkin, you’re part of the problem.
Etc.

Don’t be part of the problem.

Did they ever think that they did rig FL to help DeSantis? They are desperate for him to be the nominee and not Trump and wanted him to appear strong.

There’s never enough tinfoil.

None of that matters. It is time to put this totalitarian A-hole’s campaign to bed. What makes that video clip of him in June 2020 so bad is that he’s clearly a duplicitous bastard — making statements that these bars and restaurants are having their licenses suspended for violating his “guidelines.”

That’s the language of a smarmy pr!ck. You don’t bring the force of the law down on someone for violating “guidelines.” These were RESTRICTIONS, not guidelines.

As a small business owner myself, there are few things in life that bother me more than what I witnessed here in the U.S. during this COVID fiasco (even to this day). I consider it the ultimate violation of the foundational principles of this country for an American to have his or her business shut down like that by some @sshole in government who lives at the expense of the taxpayers and never misses a single paycheck.

I wouldn't support Ron DeSantis for President if he ran unopposed in the Republican primaries -- and this has nothing to do with Trump.

What is this crap?

Outright disinformation. I was here. Just because he initially went along with some restrictions (bars 50% capacity), doesn’t mean he favored lockdowns!

What a crock!!!

Is this you, Sundance?

Nope. Nobody with an actual brain, that is. That’s just stupid.
