The Nevada Supreme Court on Nov. 14 turned down a request to halt hand counting of ballots in a rural county.
The hand count, which is taking place after all ballots cast in the midterms were tabulated with machines, is essentially a recount or an audit, neither of which are allowed under state law, the Brennan Center for Justice said in an emergency motion on Monday.
“Unless enjoined by this Court, this hand count will set a dangerous precedent for future elections by encouraging local officials to make up and implement their own vote counting processes that violate voters’ constitutional right to an accurate election ‘as provided by law,'” the group said.
The state’s top court ruled within hours, denying the petition.
The court noted that the hand count was approved by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office, according to a response to the emergency motion from Interim Nye County Clerk Mark Kampf.
County officials also differed on what state law allows, saying a hand count that is not an audit or recount is not “expressly prohibit[ed]” by the law.

I’ll wager that you complain when a person refers to himself or herself as “they,” too. (I’m in your camp)
Well, if this gets appealed up to SCOTUS, Roberts will have a hard time defending any decision to take up the case after having rejected the Texas lawsuit over the 2020 election; a refusal that, from where I sit, effectively ended our republic by enshrining the right of corrupt AGs and courts to ignore their own state laws and constitutions with regard to election procedures.
I worked for the company that did the American Idol and Dancing with the Stars real-time voting. It was quite an experience when the shows were on and the voting was happening. It was ALL HANDS ON DECK as you might imagine with no margin for screw-ups.
But, hey. Those were important votes, not like these where we choose the people who run the state or the country.
They’re sent out to everyone on the voter rolls. Problem is, those rolls tend to still have people on it who moved away or died.
CA, CO, HI, NV, OR, UT & WA do this mass mailing out of ballots to everyone on the voting rolls.
Banks audit all the time.
Laws? This country is lawless. Look at the border?
It’s a Leftist front group in the same way the Communists and Democrats have always used front groups.
As Joseph McCarthy learned back in 1950, you need only look at the name to sniff them out.
Nearly any organization (with some exceptions) that has “Democracy” in the name such as “Citizens for Democracy” or “Ensuring Democracy” is almost certainly a Leftist front group.
Just like the ones that say “Citizens Voting Rights” and “Equal Votes for All”.
When you see and smell the stench of Leftism on these, you can guarantee that they are for removing democracy or corrupting the voting process.
Laxalt is the sitting AG, is he not?
He’s probably got about a 30 day window to stir the pot out there.
Anything with the name Brennan, either from a legal, intelligence, or governance perspective is guaranteed to be illegal, unintelligent, or tyrannical.
Read it wrong. I stand corrected.
Yep. And both meanings of “intelligence.”
No, Laxalt has not be AG for years. He is simply a nobody at this point. Doesn’t seem to be doing anything to speak up for himself or defend his election.
It’s almost as though the Constitution should recognize “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed....and be able to verify a vote count.”
Well maybe not banks, but crypto exchange money laundering scemes, sure no problem
I thought that Democrats believed that every vote must be counted.
It will set a dangerous precedent for future elections by encouraging local officials to make up and implement their own vote counting processes.
That happened in 2020 and nothing happened to their ruling
81.000.000 votes huh

Interesting an arm of New York University would be inserting itself into what’s going on in a rural county in Nevada. Where’s their standing to sue?
“
Jpp113, ping to this.
My opinion would be that most likely an argument regarding standing was not put forth in opposition, therefore that issue wasn’t ruled on. However, the Nevada Supreme Court sided the correct way - follow the state election laws which does not prohibit the process being complained about.
Libtard orgs always use Orwellian language in their names and titles.
Yes they do. Some of us are wise to it, but many are completely ignorant.
People even give money to them, not knowing their true nature.
All by design.
