White House says more infrastructure spending coming, rejects inflation link

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House on Tuesday said it had pushed out $185 billion in funding under a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law passed last year, with that same amount or more to follow in 2023, but denied the funding would fuel inflation.

Former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who oversees implementation of the law, said the Biden administration had announced nearly 7,000 projects reaching over 4,000 communities across all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and the U.S. territories.

He said the federal government had hired over 3,500 workers to implement the law, which is already funding the repair and replacement of 2,800 bridges and funding procurement of 5,000 new clean transit and school buses.

"But the reality is that we're just at the beginning," he said. "Between now and the end of the year, we're going to kick off even more major projects."

Just another money laundering scheme to enrich deepstate actors. And when the results fail to materialize, a flippant comment will be made like when Obama laughed and stated, “I guess those shovel ready jobs weren’t as shovel ready as expected”.

“Former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, who oversees implementation of the law...”

Great, put a mayor from the most corrupt city in America in charge of $185 billion. All aboard the Pork Express!

Shovel Ready my Ass. ONLY if ALL Design and Environmental hoops have been cleared and the BID came in close to budget estimate. This process is 3-7years assuming no stupid little snail garter or spotted owl is impacted.

Bridges should be standard OFF THE SHELF DESIGNS with solid cost estimates. WHEN has an infrastructure project come in even close to original estimate??? My guess is NEVER. Cost Overruns and Change Orders are where contractors (and politicians through kickbacks) make the big $$$$$$$$.

Powell is going to have to get draconian with interest rates to tamp down inflation.

We are in a real bad situation with Powell putting the stag and Biden putting the flation into stagflation on steroids

It’s the “affordable care act” So affordable that as a independent contractor I couldn’t afford mine anymore so now I pay everything in cash. Medical, dental, eyeglasses. Last year I got a colonoscopy that cost me $3500 and dental work that cost me $4000. Meanwhile multi-millionaires like B.Hussein Obama and Pelosi live like royalty with free top of the line healthcare for life. Every time I meet a leftist, I like to thank them for that.

LOL.

Sorry, it’s not funny.

I had a pacemaker put in a year ago. I just got the statement. $124K. The amount paid based on contracted rates between BCBS and the hospital was $13K.

We had good friends who were in Germany when the husband had a major heart attack. He needed emergency triple bypass surgery. His health insurance didn't cover out if country care. He had the procedure done, two weeks hospital stay in the cardiac unit, a return flight to the states on a modified medical air ambulance along with a care nurse who met with his state side cardiologist. She stayed in a hotel for three days and then flew back to Hanover.

The total bill for everything was $34K from the Germany care team and Hospital. In the US that same procedure would run over $500K.
