Five people were killed and seven others were wounded by gun violence in Chicago Monday.
A man was found shot to death Monday afternoon on the Lower West Side and, about 45 minutes later, a man and woman were fatally shot less than half a mile away in what the local alderperson said were potentially linked to a gang war. The man, 34, was shot multiple times about 1 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Bell Avenue, police said.
A woman died and a teenage boy was wounded in a shooting in South Shore. The woman, 48, and the boy, 17, were outside a gas station in the 800 block of East 79th Street about 9 p.m. when two people got out of a silver car and fired shots, police said.
A 15-year-old boy was critically wounded in Lawndale. He was inside a business in the 3100 block of West Roosevelt Road when two people entered and opened fire about 7:50 p.m., striking him multiple times, police said.
Just over an hour earlier, a 71-year-old man was shot while on a bicycle in Humboldt Park on the West Side.
At least four other people were shot Monday in Chicago.

Anyone know the ratio of felonies/arrests made in Chicago What about Arrests/convictions or Convictions/imprisonment. Suspect the numbers would be telling. Revenge is the only real justice available to the aggrieved. Suspect many of those shot or killed were shooters or killers themselves.

The link contains information on “predictive policing.” Chicago PD developed an algorithm based on associations that can very accurately predict who will be shot or be the shooter. Suppose X was arrested a week ago for a nonviolent offence with his buddy, Y. Y was arrested two months ago committing a violent crime. Y is related to Z who has multiple drug arrests. The algorithm can predict the chances of X being shot or shooting someone with amazing accuracy. If you hit the score of, I think, 265 you’ll probably be dead by the end of the week. (By the way, warning the people they just won the shooting lottery didn’t help and sometimes hurt.)

I believe the homicide solve-rate is about 20%. I think Chicago has reached the point where many of the murdered result in a net saving of lives. Sucks about the innocent bystanders, though.

Guess the many of the Felons of Chicago took the weekend off, good thing they did. These guys are just getting into the Christmas spirit.
