The United Methodist Church (UMC) is accelerating its moves to become more accepting of LGBTQ people, leading to more divisions within the denomination and more departures from the group.
Each of the church's five U.S. jurisdictions met separately this month to approve measures where "LGBTQIA+ people will be protected, affirmed, and empowered."
Also, the church's second openly gay bishop was elected.
Conservatives say the developments will only accelerate their exit from one of the nation's largest Protestant denominations.
At least 300 U.S. congregations have already left the UMC this year, according to United Methodist News Service.
Hundreds more are in the process of leaving, and that number could reach the low thousands by the end of next year.
Overseas, congregations in Bulgaria and Slovakia have ended their affiliation with the denomination, and churches in Africa are considering it.

John Wesley was a major factor in the Holiness Movement of the 1st Great Awakening.
And the central Methodists will fight tooth and nail to retain ownership of all buildings and assets even though they have no followers to use them.
Good for them.
There is nothing wrong with accepting gay people into the church. But if the church condones their sin, well, that’s another issue. If the Gospel they preach has no change in lives, they are false teachers.

Not to mention California sliding into the sea.
Churches today are accepting them and telling them it’s ok.. you don’t have to change.
Which condemns those who choose to believe the lie.. because the Bible spells it out in plain words.
If you don’t believe the bible..you’re on your own dangerous journey
Then we will be about 12 miles from the beach. Well a long drop into the ocean anyway. Just as long as it follows the map lines anyway. ππ
The church I attend left the Presbyterian Church years ago and joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The service and music are still traditional, but the doctrine and preaching are 100% Bible-based.
From the article, βAt least 300 U.S. congregations have already left the UMC this year.β
The UMC does not actually own any buildings and assets. Here is a link to a "legal description" of the organization from one of their own publications
Does voting for sexual perversion make it morally right? No!
A democratic vote for and approving immorality deprives the minority of a moral lifestyle. And, homosexual perversion is not what God intends for mankind.
A vote for requiring acceptance of sexual perversion is the very essence of mass oppression.
The UMC has been in the process of splitting for months.
I understood the property issue has been resolved to the satisfaction of Bible believers.
Isn’t W a methodist? I wonder if his congregation is staying in apostasy .
According to geological experts it's not a likely scenario, so you should probably hold off on that Leisure Kraft Double Decker Pontoon Boat for the time being.

Dang it! π€ππ
The UMC has identified itself as being led by Satan. Christians leaving the fallen church is a positive thing.
I attended an EPC for a few years⦠really enjoyed it.
Should have left that gun control organization years ago.
The problem is that you are not allowed to disagree. That’s cult-like behavior. I left a liberal UMC and am now a member of a non-political UMC.
In short, they say they are welcoming but they are not to people they call “bigots” and “homophobes”.
“...There is nothing wrong with accepting gay people into the church...”
Agree!! However, when the church then says homosexuality is not a sin, it is in error.
