Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky compared his country retaking the regional capital of Kherson to D-Day, the start of the Allies regaining captured territory from the Nazis during World War II, saying it could be a turning point in the war with Russia.
Zelensky said in an address to the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Indonesia on Tuesday that the Ukrainian operation to liberate Kherson is reminiscent of many other battles in the past that were turning points in armed conflicts.
“Those battles symbolized such changes, after which people already knew who will be victorious even though the ultimate victory still had to be fought for,” he said via video link.
The G20 summit is an annual gathering of the world’s most developed economies to discuss the major global economic issues.
Zelensky said Ukrainian forces will need to fight for a while longer to free the entire country from Russian occupation, but his country’s forces are feeling what the Allies felt after landing in Normandy, France.

I see Zel as more like a combination of George Washington, Alexander the Great and either David Cassidy or Harry Stiles.

That's certainly one way to look at it.
BUT....another is that it is absolutely genius. So, the Ruskies leave the city, and days later a few Ukes go in and claim liberation and victory in the press. The most important part of that sentence is "in the press."
Zelensky then makes these outlandish, fairytale, and bogus claims in order to fleece more $$$$$ from me and you -- which he does with great success.
Maybe it is not delusional -- maybe it's brilliance. That is for as long as the money continues to flow. After the money stops and Ukraine is flattened, he escapes to one of his villas around the world, and the common people/deplorables (me and you) are left holding the bag -- like FTX crypto.
And I don’t think France has ever paid us back, have they?
I’m not holding my breath waiting for Ukraine, either…

You know, without all the ships and airforces and 1/4 million men crossing the English channel is sh!tty weather. Other than that just like D-Day.
The Russian’s were forced out, and the Ukrainians entered in force after they left.
the Ukrainians now have recon units with minimal resistance across the Dnieper. The Russians appear to be retreating to new defensive positions well South and East of Kherson.
It’s a big win, no matter how you slice it.
