A Russian court has charged Timofey Yefremov, deputy editor-in-chief of the news site Yakutia.info, with “discrediting the Russian army” for a comment he made in an interview with the television channel Dozhd about women in Yakutsk who protested against the war in Ukraine on September 25.
The court ruled that Yefremov “discredited” the army when he said the phrase “You won’t send a woman to the front.” According to the official ruling, a “front” can only exist in a war, and because Russia is conducting a “special military operation” rather than war, Yefremov should have used the term “line of contact.” The court fined Yefremov 30,000 rubles ($497).
Amazing, ain't it?
> According to the official ruling, a “front” can only exist in a war, and because Russia is conducting a “special military operation” rather than war... <
I really can’t make fun of that, because we do the exact same thing. Korea was a police action. Vietnam was, I don’t know. But it wasn’t a war because war was never declared. Then came further police actions, kinetic actions, etc.
In a way, we are perhaps worse than Russia in this regard. We pretend to have the moral high ground. But we go to war rather casually. We just don’t call it a war.
Except that I don’t recall us fining anyone for calling the Korean or Vietnam Wars “wars”.
There are “Putinbots” here? Yikes. Glad I missed them.
What is more Orwellian than our involvement in a foreign war that doesn’t concern us at all?
“The Russians are still trying to deny reality about being at war with Ukraine.”

Fixed it.
The russian army is doing a fine job discrediting itself, without any help from journalists.
Cold Front
Warm Front
The Final Frontier
Front Man
Front Company
Beachfront
Forefront
Not every front is a War Front
Just jailing tens of thousands of protesters, in extreme cases the shooting of protesters. Although I do not agree, in many way the fine is much more reasonable. I honestly don’t give a crap about Ukraine or Russia, and all 3 of us have zero high ground to stand on. The only thing I can truly respect these days is a country doing what is best for its people. Let Ukranians judge Ukraine, Russians judge Russia, and let the US remember it exists before it doesn’t.
I agree with letting Ukrainians judge Ukraine, but Russia seems to have other ideas.
How many Russians died in the US/NATO invasion of Russia? I must have missed something.

Your far too simple-minded response is indicative of you either being obsequious to the Globohomos or simply a propagandist for the Biden Administration.

The last time Congress declared war was in June of 1942. It does make a difference.
What do you call it when your front is your rear?
