SEN. LUMMIS: DeSantis is leader of the Republican Party
The Hill ^ | 11/14/22 7:30 PM ET | BY ALEXANDER BOLTON -

Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) on Monday declared that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, not former President Trump, is the leader of the Republican Party, signaling GOP support is shifting away from Trump in the wake of the 2022 midterm election.

Asked by a reporter for Politico whether she would endorse Trump, Lummis replied, “I don’t think that’s the right question.”

“I think the question is who is the current leader of the Republican Party. Oh, I know who it is: Ron DeSantis,” she said.

“I’m saying currently, Ron DeSantis is the leader of the Republican Party, whether he wants to be or not,” she explained.

My hope is today that Trump announces he is running for President as an independent...

The number of 'Independent' Congresspersons today is infinitesimal and I believe they all caucus with the Democrats. What would Trump running as an Independent accomplish? I highly doubt that he could win running as such. Why? Because there are no MAGA Democrats who would vote for him and I'd bet that the republican MAGA camp would split between Trump the Independent and the Republican candidate.

IMHO - the only path for MAGA to dictate its agenda is to take over the Republican party.

Omg, what a bunch of pansies. If MAGA can play the harvest game......nothing can touch us. Doing the same damn thing expecting different results......damn idiots.

Despite what some day here, the midterm election results have damaged Trump. As shown by Republicans being openly critical of him.

You’ve just insulted our Lord and Savior. Why do so many think God was just joking when He gave us the Third Commandment?

That's your opinion. I assure you it doesn't. God stands for truth and truth does not insult Him.

So it appears from reading these comments is that if Trump doesn’t win the GOP nomination, he should run third party and hand the communists another term. But, if Trump DOES win the GOP nomination, it would be scandalous for DeSantis or someone else to do the same. To hell with all the people getting destroyed under this regime.

This is one of many reasons the communists always seem to beat us. They are rigidly disciplined and treat elections like a bloodsport while the GOP treats it like a shuffleboard game at a retirement home.

Hes actually the governor of Florida, a great gov for sure…. Nothing more , nothing less. DeSantis hasnt even accepted the mantle as the “leader” of the GOP, has he? The woman is trying to gaslight Americans like a democrat.

"What would Trump running as an Independent accomplish?"

Remember Ross Perot? Me, either.

The biggest victory of that other selfish independent party bid was 1 Gov race win, in MN.

Jesse "The NoBody" Ventura.

I don't wish that fate on Trump.

I’d rather him run independent but I don’t think he could win as an independent so I don’t see that.

If Trump runs as an independent, it would only be to sabotage the Republican Party -- permanently, one would hope.

Running as a Democrat could accomplish this even better. If he can hold MAGA across party lines that could work. Especially if he can get Manchin to run. If Biden doesn’t go then there will be a major primary and he could win on vote splitting shenanigans. Who knows

DeSantis is a lot smarter than Trump.

1. I'll bet Trump has a higher IQ than DeSantis.

2. DeSantis is a groomed GOP establishment tool.
