Let’s Talk About Trump

The midterm clusterfark has drawn plenty of hot takes and instant analyses that range from insightful to self-serving to unbelievably stupid. But now that we have gotten past the initial blasts of the flamethrower, perhaps we should take a breath and sit down, and think about where we are as a movement and what we need to do as a party for 2024. There’s a lot to talk about, from procedural questions like how we intend to cope with the new world of extended mail voting to substantive imperatives like how we must repeal the 19th Amendment as it applies to single, liberal women who vote for their Democrat Daddy in appalling numbers. We need to ask questions about candidate selection, money, issue choices, and a bunch of other stuff. And we need to answer the question of what to do about Donald J. Trump.

My DMs and texts and chats and super-secret Townhall VIP email (Join with promo code KURT for a discount!) exploded – I mean, they went the full Nagasaki – during the 24 hours after the election, and most of it was along the lines of “I am so done with Trump!” It was not just a few people, and it was not only on back channels (Twitter was alive with Trump-roasting). It was a lot of people, and most were pretty damn hardcore. These were not Never Trump sissies or establishment shills – those losers don’t get to talk to me. These were people who, unanimously, were grateful for what Trump did.

The article is deductive, and presents observations to support a conclusion. The concluding paragraphs of the excellent article...

If he does not run, he should either bow out because he wants to bow out, or he should be tossed out by Republican primary voters at the ballot box. If he gets the GOP nomination, everyone should support him in the general. If you are a Nomination Denier, go subscribe to the Dispatch.

Trump will probably announce 2024 soon, and then we will see if his support is wide and deep or wide and shallow. But regardless, the GOP is going to have to answer the Trump question sooner rather than later.

I’ve been on FR longer than you pal; you don’t tell me what to think.

It’s very simple, we all make up our own minds. I voted for him twice and was on a Focus Group broadcast by the Palm Beach Post after the 2016 election. My bona fides are just as good as all the Nina Burleigh Wannabe’s here.

Trump was always a prix fixe menu with no substitutions; you cannot have a Trump owning the libs without him also tweeting about Rosie O’Donnell. He saved our country in 2016. The idea that 2022 was all his fault is nonsense. It was only partly his. There were plenty of other malefactors and plenty of unrelated screw-ups that we need to identify and address in the next 24 months (particularly adapting to the new mail-in extended voting model). Trump should not be exiled by the establishment or the commentators just because a lot of the same people who never liked him anyway still want him gone. If he does not run, he should either bow out because he wants to bow out, or he should be tossed out by Republican primary voters at the ballot box. If he gets the GOP nomination, everyone should support him in the general.

Xactly. Let's have the primaries instead of Ryan and McCarthy sneaking around trying to decide for us. That's the way the dems do it. They decide for their voters. Just look at Bernie Sanders. Stolen the nomination and then paid him back with a mansion.

What’s so terrific about it?
The Godzilla to Trump’s King Kong is Ron DeSantis …
Just another screed pushing DeSantis and denying fraud—the word “fraud” appears absolutely nowhere and implying that the current system is actually legitimate.

Election theft is the problem, but let’s pretend it’s Orange Man Bad.

If the dog food isn't being eaten you can assume there's an invisible man scaring your dog away from the bowl or you can assume he doesn't like the food.

I read the article. I bought into the mindset before.
Oh, gee! If we only had a ‘nicer’ candidate, one who isn’t so abrasive, we would be happier as a party and the group hugs will be so great that we might even pull in the Reagan democrats. Well, that is how we got McCain, and Romney. And that is how we had our butts handed to us. The closest thing we have to a candidate other than Trump is DeSantis and he is still an unknown. Another 5 years should tell us what we need to know about him. But we don’t have 5 years.
Go ahead.. nominate a ‘nice’ guy. One who won’t say mean things about the communists trying to murder our country.
As for me, if Trump runs, he will have my support 100%.

So there was no election theft?

It is perfectly normal for Democrat candidates to be in charge of counting the votes for their race?

Repealing the 19th is a non-starter.

Here is an excellent read on how the Women’s Rights movement was from its start, a Maoist movement. Friend recommended it to me after Tuesday night. The country is finished, and the Commie girls at NOW started the ball rolling.

Kemp in Georgia in 2018 was also Sec of State, just like Hobbs

Did you write about it here?

What should Trump do about it? What power does he possess to do something about it? Please be specific.

This isn’t 2016 anymore.

I want ALL the GOP Leadership overturned . . . McConnell, McCarthy, McDaniel, Trump too.

This is a rebuilding process, just like any sports team that screws the pooch over multiple years. Time to clean house. Of ALL OF THEM.

Jordan for Minority Leader or Speaker of the House

Hawley for House Minority Leader

And for God’s sake . . . learn how to F***ing ADVERTISE to the younger voters, who completely cost us this election because we don’t educate them, when ALL the tools are there.

Look at Tim Pool and listen to how he’s trying to COMPETE in the Culture Wars. There’s a blueprint there.

Tik Tok needs conservative videos that EDUCATE. Same with Instagram and the rest.

Those tools are also force multipliers when it comes to organizing registration and voting. Stop relying on the old ways of GOTV. That KILLED us this cycle.

You know if the part of the Republican party that didn’t like Trump worked to get Republicans elected instead of trying to take down Trump the party might win. Trump is the only one doing the work and then you complain? MAGA should never compromise with the Repukes in the party. If our candidates don’t win MAGA should sit out. The fact that this didn’t happen in Georgia is a huge sign to the elites that MAGA will always show up but the establishment types will only show up for establishment types of candidate. Stop voting for thr lesser of two evils!

The first thing he can do is to FINALLY understand it is the MAGA Movement, not the Donald J Trump Movement

We’ll figure out the rest when he finally realizes this is more important than him

Who cares about the runoff. Repukes won’t change anything in the Senate. Trump is fighting. If the Repukes want people to drop Trump then shown even a fraction of his courage.

Trump is the only one doing the work? Sure pal, got a bridge to sell you!

MAGA should never compromise? That’s a fact of life in politics. Reagan won 45 of 50 states in 1980 and 49 of 50 in 1984 and he had to compromise too! He picked Bush instead of Kemp as his VP to unite the party after a tough primary (how many of you whiners even remember that the Rep primary was tougher than the General election in 1980?).

Compromise is as simple as coming up with a LEGITIMATE PLATFORM, which has the following:

Detailed Border and Immigration Reform

Manufacturing Returns

Reduce our Foreign Footprint

Common Sense in the Schools

Give me those and let the RINO’s try to explain their opposition. I can live with a few stupidities like pronouns.
