The midterm clusterfark has drawn plenty of hot takes and instant analyses that range from insightful to self-serving to unbelievably stupid. But now that we have gotten past the initial blasts of the flamethrower, perhaps we should take a breath and sit down, and think about where we are as a movement and what we need to do as a party for 2024. There’s a lot to talk about, from procedural questions like how we intend to cope with the new world of extended mail voting to substantive imperatives like how we must repeal the 19th Amendment as it applies to single, liberal women who vote for their Democrat Daddy in appalling numbers. We need to ask questions about candidate selection, money, issue choices, and a bunch of other stuff. And we need to answer the question of what to do about Donald J. Trump.
My DMs and texts and chats and super-secret Townhall VIP email (Join with promo code KURT for a discount!) exploded – I mean, they went the full Nagasaki – during the 24 hours after the election, and most of it was along the lines of “I am so done with Trump!” It was not just a few people, and it was not only on back channels (Twitter was alive with Trump-roasting). It was a lot of people, and most were pretty damn hardcore. These were not Never Trump sissies or establishment shills – those losers don’t get to talk to me. These were people who, unanimously, were grateful for what Trump did.

Fought against lockdowns
Segregated the Nursing Homes
Fought back PUBLICLY against Fauci
Made vaccines voluntary
Pray tell, which of the two were 'MAGA' to use your pronoun of choice!
Please go back and do some research on DeSantis' executive orders from the spring of 2020, and then stop posting this verifiably false crap.
In particular, pay close attention to the ones where he issued stay-at-home lockdown order that rivaled the Nazi sh!t we saw in Australia, Israel, Great Britain, and New York City. Then look at the domestic travel restrictions, enforced by National Guard troops at Florida's airports. And even as late as the June 2020 (when anyone with half a brain saw the whole COVID crisis as nothing more than a fear-mongering farce) he was holding regular press briefings with some Florida "health commissioner" Nazi -- telling everyone how they were suspending the liquor licenses of bars and restaurants that were violating the governor's COVID restrictions.
As a small business owner myself, there are few things in life that bother me more than what I witnessed here in the U.S. during this COVID fiasco (even to this day). I consider it the ultimate violation of the foundational principles of this country for an American to have his or her business shut down like that by some @sshole in government who lives at the expense of the taxpayers and never misses a single paycheck.
I wouldn't support Ron DeSantis for President if he ran unopposed in the Republican primaries -- and this has nothing to do with Trump.
If the Donkey Vote Fraud Machine wanted to steal FLA they could have. They threw Ron a bone as a foil against Trump.
Good points. He also cleaned up the electoral system to prevent Democrat cheating and built up an organization to register Republicans year-round and then get out the vote. A Dem was whining about DeSantis’ “political machine” being responsible for Republican victories in Florida on NPR the other day. I couldn’t help but love it!
Compare the two of them and tell me which was better for the small business owner (which I am 2x currently as is my son, who was allowed to stay open as a baked goods store).
Don’t vote for him, I’m sure Cuomo is more your taste.
The two states that cleaned up their voter rolls, Wisconsin and Florida, didn’t have the blue firewall.
Odd that you don’t care about cleaning up the voter rolls of dead people and people who moved away
That would be odd if it were true.
And you think Trump is the choice for that? He had four years to come up with something that he could have sold to the country and PUNTED on it.
Meanwhile the squish in Florida GOT IT DONE.
I'm not sure what incident you're talking about.
Of course you’re not.
You’re never sure of anything.
It’s a miracle you are able to wipe your own Obama.
You can keep twisting yourself into a pretzel and making stuff up in your head to “explain away” DeSantis’ success, but it does not change the facts. If we do not address election fraud, all is lost anyway, whether Trump is the nominee or not.
It was obvious to me way ahead of the 2020 election there was going to be lots of hankypanky with all the mail-in voting. I kept thinking surely Trump would do something, but he did nothing — not even organizing a good little army of poll watchers.
I’ve been hounding my state representatives and congresscritters about electoral reform for the past two years. Maybe others have, too, because at least we got paper ballots this time around and plenty of poll watchers. I’m going to keep after them, too.
“In danger of…” Your own words here are the piece you are missing in all of this.
DeSantis was not facing a situation anything close to the national situation. I don’t mean that as a denegration of his Florida accomplishment. He had the elected legislature, the SOS, and the AG. He had the entire power structure with him…and it was one state that was already majority Republican, with a solid history of Republican governors and legislatures. He did the right thing anyway, and credit to him.
He could never do that on a national scale. He would get crushed. America is already blue. In the crucial states that are turning like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada - even Georgia under co-pored Republicans Kemp and Raffensperger- who are fine with election corruption as long as you personally leave them alone - in those places he would have zero chance and zero support for Florida style changes. Much less so in the big blue states of the west coast, Colorado, and the entire northeast and Great Lakes.
The critical part is Florida “was in danger of” not that it had already hardened its election corruption system. It never went blue. That’s why he could do it. In most of America - and in ALL of the America that matters on this, what he did there is impossible to achieve.
That is why now it is better to destroy the system nationally, or break the nation up entirely, than to try and gain support - which will never be gained if you tried for a hundred years - for reforming it.
How about answering his question, which is simply ‘give me the exact reported case you’re referencing’?
In other words, show the proof. Unlike Lindell and DeSouza, who still haven’t released their PROMISED base data.
I am looking forward to you being herded into the Democrat death camps.
Never went Blue? Try checking past Governors and Senators before recent history
Did Obama not win Florida BOTH TIMES?
Did not Gore come within 600 votes of doing so?
Graham ring a bell?
You’re saying that to a Jew asshole
Who barely buried his ancestor who survived a camp.
I’m a Jew too, asshole.
Then you should know better than to throw that out
You should know better than to be a perpetual victim.
For the reasons I cited above, Florida never would have been a consideration even if it made sense for a lot of other reasons. Few things would be more devastating to my business than having a contractor or client travel to my office only to be accosted by some Sturmtruppen at the airport, ordering them to self-quarantine for two weeks.
And you’ve had numerous Republican governors, AGs, SOS and legislative majorities during that entire time. Presidential elections have absolutely nothing to do with establishing a state voting system. It is done by state legislative majorities and implemented by state SOS administratively, with the legal cover provided by a state AG. Without those Allie’s already in place - a state that was already Republican - DeSantis could have done absolutely nothing.
You seem to have an extremely weak understanding of how these things happen…and an amazing ignorance of how state laws and administrative procedures are created. Or are you trying to tell me that DeSantis could become Governor of California and suddenly be able to correct their election system all by himself? Or maybe Illinois? Or Pennsylvania? Or Arizona? How about Minnesota?
Is he the magic man? Be careful how you answer, you are about to get laughed out of here.
