Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday visited the liberated city of Kherson and promised the fresh victory would serve as the “beginning of the end” of the war against Russia.

Zelensky walked the streets in the southern Ukrainian city and took selfies with soldiers and praised them for fighting against Russia.

The Ukrainian leader also distributed medals to soldiers and told the liberated city that Ukraine would soon be “coming step by step to all the temporarily occupied territories of our country.”

“Of course, it is difficult, it is a long and hard path,” Zelensky said in the address. “No one gives anything away so easily. The price of this war is high. People were wounded, a large number of people died [and Russian troops] retreated or fled.

Genuine question: when the USA invoked NATO Article 5 after 9/11 and Russia as well as the rest of NATO came to your aid should we have all just snorted and refused to assist because your beef with Bon Laden and the Dubya unfinished business family grudge in Iraq had nothing to do with any of us?

Many on the left of British politics were deeply uneasy about the Bush/Blair crusades especially when Blair’s “dodgy dossier” got exposed. Nonetheless, mutual defense arrangements go both ways and you don’t sign up to them with the intention of finding excuses not to honor them.

The USA was grifting all the way through the phoney War on Terror but at the start of it we felt obligated to answer the call. I don’t recall a massive opposition to it until after “Mission Accomplished” turned into a forever war that Putin can keep pointing at as he tries to conquer one country after another to restore the Dugin vision of a resurgent Russian empire.

At least when Ukraine invoked USA and UK support under the Budapest Memorandum assurances, it actually had already been invaded by the Russian army and betrayed by its former president... if that’s not good enough for the USA to stick to its promises then maybe we should have told the grifting neocons to take a hike when it involved article 5.

A commonly held British view (with the benefit of hindsight) is that a couple of dozen islamists acting on Saudi Wahhabi interests conducted a one-off Grand Gesture on 9/11 that should’ve resulted in serious diplomatic sanctions against Saudi Arabia and targeted military action to support allies in Afghanistan and Pakistan so THEY would degrade Al Qaeda operations on their soil... Which is far closer to what we’re doing in Ukraine.

Ukrainian leader also distributed medals …

Ukraine is welfare nation, corrupted welfare nation as details are finally surfacing.

How about the corrupted little comedian gets the lights, water and food turned back on in his nation? …..you will not see him walking down the streets in any highly populated centers…..the truce that is being arranged behind the scenes is probably the only thing that will save his hide….His “natives” are starting to get restless…

Case in point is Gen Miley’s recent remark for the corrupted leader to start thinking about negotiations….

Well this should certainly make fuel prices come down. After all, it is because of the “war.”

only 3 weeks till Europe cuts off all Russian oil imports!

then Russia will be losing $20 billion every week, rather than “just” the $10 billion they’re losing every week now

Actually, no they won’t.

India, Africa, SE Asia, China, parts of South America will gladly buy that Russian gas and oil, clueless.

Let’s say all those things you say about Ukraine are true. Then Russia is even more pathetic getting defeated by such a country.

Check liveuamap and https://deepstatemap.live. The big picture is, since the middle of April Russia has been continuously forced back from what it captured. The less of Ukraine Russia occupies, the sooner the war is over. This war ends when Russia leaves Ukraine.

Let me get this straight, resident of Canuckistan, you are bad mouthing developing 3rd world countries from your perch in Nazi run Canuckistan?

That aside, you also failed to grasp that India and China buys Russian gas and oil for cheap and THEN turns around and sells it to Europe for max profits.

Clueless you are and no doubt, clueless you will remain.

you got any actual proof of that?

or is that just another one of your bogus lies, like "Ukraine has 387,000 of their troops killed"?

The problem is that Russia can’t deliver. Russia lacks the means and the finances to ship their oil.

Tankers are sanctioned beyond Russian use and Russia does not have adequate tankers nor LNG vessels to provide the transpoer required. Further, the transaction depends on the cago being insured during transit. None of the marine insurors and reinsurors will provide the needed insurance.

A lot of the propaganda lists China as salvation for Russian oil sales. In addition to the above, China is now buying the needed oil from Tajikistan. There are no problems nor hassle for china in such trade.

While Russia is scrounging up some new customers, the volume is trivial. The Russian economy is failed

The Ukraine is not a NATO member. Attacks on the Ukraine are not attacks on a NATO member nation.

But you do raise one good point — it is time for the US to leave NATO completely. The borders in Europe have moved back and forth across the map for a thousand years without any assistance from the USA.
