A road in St. Johns County that was destroyed by Tropical Storm Nicole has been repaired in just 7.5 hours and is now accessible, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced on Friday.

The storm made its way through the Sunshine State on Wednesday and Thursday, compounding the issues previously caused by Hurricane Ian over a month ago. Photos surfaced on social media this week, showing mass flooding and sections of coastal roadways completely destroyed, seemingly fallen into the sea. A section of Vilano Beach in St. Johns County was particularly battered:

However, on Friday, DeSantis announced that the road had been repaired and is open to traffic.

“SR A1A in St. Johns County had substantial damage from Hurricane Nicole. Under my direction, @MyFDOT completed emergency road repairs in Vilano Beach in 7.5 hrs. With 80 trucks and 1,400 cubic yards of material, the roadway is now reopened to traffic,” DeSantis announced, providing pictures of the repaired roadway:

DeSantis and Florida, single handedly proving that every road project in America can be completed in a matter of a few days to a very few weeks. From bridge replacement to major road repair.

If it takes longer than that they are wasting/laundering/stealing our tax money.

I’d love to see similar action here in SC.

DOT cannot seem to ever get in gear.

Waiting for someone to shout, “I could have done it better, and completed the job in five hours!”

I’m certain the MSM will soon be doing a series of in-depth stories covering this, with lots of insight into the great highway workers who actually put in the effort.

If DeSantis becomes president, perhaps he will have the border wall built with such efficiency and speed.

Who wants to bet it was a majority group of white men that made that happen?

Somehow that will be seen as a micro-agression against the endorser in chief.

Excellent job.

Now he has to show why that was important to the people of Florida.

An efficient government official?.....WTF is wrong with all of you?

A job needs to be done. The state, county, city or town hires a contractor to come in and fix something. They fix it or don’t fix it on time. That isn’t DeSantis or any other government official. WOW!!

Was DeSantis out there running the backhoe, excavator, skidsteer, grader, wobbly-wheel, road roller, laying the asphalt, pouring the concrete for the curbs, and painting the lane lines? NO. NO. NOPE. NOPE. and, one more time....NOPE.

The state/county got contractors in there, reliable and competent ones that performed the work. And I’ll bet they got PAID. Very well. Usually, there are incentives built into some of these contracts where they’ll get bonuses for getting work done quickly.

Good Lord, some of you are taking this DeSantis idol worship to never before seen levels that it’s embarrassing.

DeSantis, DeSantis, DeSantis....I guess everyone else forgets about all the other folks that are involved: the State Legislature, department/state agency heads, County Commissions, City Councils, Sheriffs and their deputies, Police Chiefs and their officers, the fireman/woman, EMTs, road workers, contractors, builders, etc etc etc.

How the hell is DeSantis so effective at running Florida when he’s doing all the ditch digging, equipment operating, supervising, and project management of all these construction projects, all over the state, by himself? Superman ain’t got nothing on Ron DeSantis. When does he sleep?

I really don’t want/hate to bring Pres Trump into the equation but, if one looks at his tenure in the White House, he hired people to do things. When they didn’t, were shown to be incompetent or subversive(Mattis, Sessions, Kelly, Tillerson, Mulvaney) he got rid of him. He was told that all of these people were patriots and could do their jobs. They didn’t. They were shown the door.

Prior to Mattis becoming Sec of Defense, is there anyone on this site that would have believed that he was a supporter of Hillary Clinton and wished that he could have worked in her administration? NOPE. https://www.thedailybeast.com/mattis-expected-to-be-tapped-by-president-hillary-clinton-he-got-trump-instead .... Everyone thought he was a barrel-chested freedom fighting patriot, not a Leftist, Globalist POS that was no better, if not worse, than Milley.

Here comes the chorus of...”Trump is lousy at picking people” “his picks sucked”. Yup. The picks, for the most part, did suck. But they were the ‘picks’. None of them were the thousands and thousands of regular bureaucrats that were hired, been working there for decades, not doing their jobs and/or undermining everything(Lois Lerner).

DeSantis doesn’t seem to have that problem and he and Florida are lucky for it.

Before DeSantis runs for POTUS, he needs to use his influence to mold the national GOP in his image. And that will not be done in time for 2024. So my advice is for him to serve out his term, while behind the scenes working to change the national party, as Reagan did as Governor of California. And then by 2028, he should be good to go.

The problem if he runs in 2024, given the current state of the GOP, is he’ll be doing it with one hand tied behind his back.

I think DeSantis flawless hands-on hurricane management this past hurricane was partially instrumental in his election blow out where he actually won Democrat Dade county as part of the blowout. Can you imagine is that Dem creep Gillum was governor and faced with this crisis!
