Inside GOP, calls grow for party chair to resign in wake of midterms
Just the News ^ | Updated: November 11, 2022 - 11:48pm | Aaron Kliegman

Agrowing number of Republican Party officials are frustrated with GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel following Tuesday's midterm elections and want her to resign, according to Republican sources familiar with the situation.

"People are upset and want to replace Ronna," said one veteran Republican National Committee official. "They're calling for her resignation but not publicly. [RNC] members are calling for accountability as they should."

The official noted that, even before the 2022 midterms, Democrats gained control of the House in 2018 and then did the same in 2020 for both the White House and the Senate — including a runoff election in Georgia. McDaniel has been chairing the RNC since 2017.

Leading into Election Day this week, polling had indicated for months that Republicans would enjoy a landslide, red wave victory. However, Republican hopes for such a victory faded Tuesday night as Democrats performed better in House races than expected and won some key Senate and gubernatorial seats considered vulnerable.

As the vote count currently stands, neither party has secured a majority in the House or Senate, with more ballots to be tallied and more states to be decided. Republicans are leading and still likely to win control of the House, but by a much smaller margin than forecast. As for the Senate, it's anyone's guess, but any majority will be razor thin.

Still, McDaniel argued the results amounted to a big win for the GOP.

"I think the night turned out great," she said on Fox News after the election. "We are retiring [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi. There was a wave that happened last night, and we are waving goodbye to Speaker Pelosi. And we are going to have a Republican majority in the House, which also means we're going to be able to stop this disastrous Biden agenda that's hurting..."

Trump is incompetent. Dr OZ ! Really .

Stop blaming Trump for Oz. PA elected a DEAD GUY in a LANDSLIDE for goodness sakes! There was no way any Republican was going to win that race.

OMG, you Never Trumpers have gotten so obviously illogical in your ‘Orange Man Bad’ arguments.

You do realize most of these "Never Trumpers" on FR supported him wholeheartedly and enthusiastically twice and now have simply grown tired of losing elections, three in a row, and Trump's increasingly childish behavior towards good people.

How stupid to put it on Trump when he’s been fighting, not only the Dems, but his own party as well. This is all on our ‘Leaders’ that hate Trump so much that they sacrifice us. Power over Party, is their motto.

I misread that. I thought the headline said “Calls from GOP to ‘grow a pair’ after midterms.”

I like fighters but I like fighters who win their fights.

Trump keeps getting beat up and now his enemies are stronger than ever.

DeSantis fights and wins. He fought Disney. The Establishment cried. He shipped immigrants to Martha's Vineyard. The Establishment cried. He fought the school boards. The Establishment cried. He embraced conservative social issues. The Establishment cried.

Every step of the way the Establishment told him he was going too far and yet he won. He won every battle he took on and was re-elected in a massive historical landslide.

I'm going with a guy who fights and wins, not the loser who keeps getting punched in the face.

Stop blaming Trump for Oz. PA elected a DEAD GUY in a LANDSLIDE for goodness sakes! There was no way any Republican was going to win that race.

The albatross in that race was Doug Mastriano. Terrible candidate. With Mastriano losing to Shapiro by 14 points, Oz was never going to get enough crossover voters to win.

We can, however, blame Trump for Mastriano.

DeSantis fights and wins.

DeSantis wins because he is allowed to win…..so far, since all sights are set to ‘get Trump out’. We’ll see how long DeSantis is allowed to carry on once Trump is out.

Bull. He took flak from the spineless GOP establishment for every fight he picked.

If you accept the lie that Trump lost in 2020, then there’s no hope for you. You are parroting the establishment’s false narrative.

Our side didn’t hammer on dems destroying the country and economy

************

If the country remains under one party rule the Dems won’t have anyone to shift blame to. It would actually be convenient for them to let the Republicans control the House so as to blame them for anything and everything that goes wrong over the next two years.

Without a scape goat, the Dems will be responsible for whatever disasters lie ahead. There will be nobody to point fingers at.

Her replacement won’t be any better, the GOP is a lost cause.

I'm not giving up, as there's no other real option, other than to just wave it all goodbye and we're not at that point yet. They've just had some horrible choices in this position the last few times. Since Trump isn't in office anymore I'm not sure how a firing is done or how a new one is selected honestly, and since that process isn't really being discussed that I've seen, there may not be any changes coming.

And just who in PA would have been a better Gov candidate?

How about any one of the primary candidates that Josh Shapiro WASN'T funneling money to, hoping they'd be his opponent.

They blame repubs regardless of if they are in power or not.

They do it as their nature because as they are socialists, and innately use the hegelian dialectic, there is always an enemy to struggle against regardless of the issue.

This is why, apart from being liars, they fake hate crimes. They always need an enemy oppressing them to use the hefelian dialectic approach of incrementalist change. Its why where things were 20 years ago they were applauding, now they look at as oppressed and awful. Their system of change demands they abhor the draconian past, hate the oppressive present, and only their socialist “solutions” can make things better in the future.

Well, that’d be a first, usually when you fail miserably as a Republican, you get rewarded with a promotion or more money.

The flip side of this coin is that Republicans are enablers of the socialists because they don’t have any core principles and they don’t stand for anything. They are appeasers. And so the destruction continues apace.

She was handpicked by Trump for loyalty to him. She’s closer to Trumpthan Mitt.

I did not know that Trump chose her. That was a mistake and time for her to go. I was never impressed with her. She is all talk.

The leadership, yes. Uniparty. Thats why we say Uniparty.

Not the rank and file. The beltway leadership.
