DeSantis won’t take Trump bait after repeated attacks: source

DeSilence is golden.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his team have ignored Donald Trump’s ongoing rhetorical offensive because they believe the former president is only damaging his own brand, an insider told “There is no upside to rolling around in the mud with Trump at this point,” the DeSantis source said. “Only downside.”

DeSantis’ famously pugnacious press team has been mute about Trump’s broadsides, and offered no comment on the escalating feud on Friday. The governor himself was spotted in Daytona Beach, surveying damage caused by Tropical Storm Nicole.

Fresh off pummeling Democratic challenger Charlie Crist at the polls this week, DeSantis has vaulted to new political heights and is now widely considered a front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination.

“He’ll continue to govern effectively, build his war chest and elevate himself in the minds of Republican voters,” the source said. “If he’s seen getting things done while Trump wails in the background, that’s a win.”

The GOP and the country can do better than Trump (or Biden) in 2024 While Trump has lost his cool over DeSantis over the past week, Mar-a-Lago’s most famous resident had already been flicking jabs at his ascendant rival in recent months.

Meanwhile, after the pair once operated in near-political harmony, DeSantis hasn’t uttered Trump’s name in recent memory.

“That’s not an accident,” the source said. “The distancing began a long time ago, not this week.”

DeSantis also wields a time advantage in not having to make a final call on a presidential run for some time. Grappling with Trump long before then, the source said, makes little sense.

“There will come a time when he’ll engage,” the insider said, asserting that DeSantis will parry inevitable questions about his White House plans while stressing his gubernatorial focus on Florida. “We’re just not there yet.”

We need a source to tell us DeSantis hasn’t responded? I think we know that.

Boy the New York Post is playing the part of the WP and the NYT.

Relentless negativity toward Trump.

I voted for T twice. Trump has bulldozed the way for Ron DeSantis and others. Trump has not gotten enough credit from Republican politicians. He is raging inside about all the prosecutions against him, his offspring and the Trump family business.

In a certain sense. The Dems have worn Trump down in the last 6 years and made him a bit nutty.

I honestly can't accept this alleged flame war . . . it doesn't make sense.

Does anyone realize that our side of the House is now made
up of many more Conservatives than in past Congresses?

Trump nearly ran the house on people he backed, over 200
to 16.

The thanks he gets is everyone taking pot shots at him.

Why should we jump to De Santis, when this groups of idiots
will find some reason to trash him too in 2028?

Our party eats it’s own.

“… the DeSantis source said…”
****************************

I call BS on this. There is no “DeSantis source”. It’s made up with the continuing effort to stir up dissension in our ranks.

That is a good thing.

We don’t need men in office who are easily provoked and react with knee jerk reactions.

Sometimes the best response is none.

I love what President Trump did for this country and would support him again should he run, but sometimes he needs to exercise a little more restraint in what comes out of his mouth. It could only help him in that it would not give the left ammo with which to crucify him with. They can do fine in that department all by themselves without President Trump handing them any gifts.

Got news for you. On election day 2016, Hillary Clinton was
ranked 90% to 10% to win.

I made $1,500 dollars that day.

The truth about Desantis starts with his 10 months of silence.

I agree. Trump was President for 4 years. That's it. He should be reelected. But it was stolen. There's no crying over spilled milk. DeSantis 2024.

Thanks for this vote of thanks for Mitch.

All you’re doing is playing right into the hands of the GOPe.

Tell me, does De Santis have an Economics degree?

I swear guys, you’re just cutting and running from the best
president we’ve had since Reagan, and arguably better.

“ DeSantis has vaulted to new political heights and is now widely considered a front-runner for the 2024 Republican nomination.”

By whom ? The same people who have been hoping to be rid of him for 7 years ? Front runner my rear end.

I didn’t believe I could ever feel this way, but the MSM
has been right all along. Hillary was right. She and
those who tried to remove Trump for collusion with Russia
were right. Those who conspired to use illegal means to
remove Trump by election there-by pull off a coup, they
were right.

Trump was wrong to build the wall. He was wrong to
appoint SCOTUS justices who would strike down Roe v
Wade.

He was wrong to institute policies that saw our stock
markets roar. He was wrong to institute policies that
kept our energy prices low and product abundant. He
was wrong to reduce the unemployment rates for Blacks,
Hispanics, and women to all time lows.

I could go on, but you catch my drift. He has said
some bad illogical things, and this time they’ve
finally got him on the run like they always promised
they would. Thank heaven for that.

Trump’s Dastardly Accomplishments

https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.gov/trump-administration-accomplishments/

He didn’t allow people to trash him and remain silent
He didn’t come down on the side of the illegal immigrant.
He didn’t praise Leftists and agree with the One World
Odor. How could I have been so blind, and so critical
of the Bush family for doing these sorts of things.

If only I could take all that back.

I can’t image four more years of the kind of things
Trump did last time, and so I join the DNC, the RNC,
the GOPe, the MSM, and every Leftist Democrat and
the RINOs, to condemn Trump and demand he pass the
torch to someone who knows what they are doing.

Mitch, Paul, a whole host of Republicans who slandered
him and demanded he step down, were right.

Refusing to work with him was the best thing that
ever happened to this nation.

Pelosi, Rove, the Bushes, the Cheney’s, the McCains,
McConnell, Ryan, and so many more wise people, I have
come to understand that you were right all along.

It’s time to move on from Trump.

I see so many of my FReeper buds now saying this, and
although I thought they should be ashamed for acting
like that, I have come to see just how wise they were.

I’d like to suggest we get behind De Santis, but then
I realized he would certainly support about 99.99% of
what Trump did, so I’d just like to cut to the chase
now rather than waste another four years, when we
would turn on him too.

So lets look for someone that doesn’t believe in what
Trump does. Liz Cheney, Megan McCain... I don’t know
guys, these women were out there trashing Trump long
before any of us were. I’ve had to change my long
standing disagreement with them.

CNN, the View, all these amazing places that said things
about Trump that so many of us now seem to agree with,
I salute these people. Finally, I can watch these
programs and feel at home with my fellow travelers.

If only we had listened.

I don’t know about others, but I feel so much better
knowing I have the best fellow travelers I could have
now that I’ve seen the light.

He’s finally on the run. He’ll withdraw from public
life any day now. He’ll be in prison within months if
he doesn’t, perhaps anyway.

/s
