The head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee pledged Wednesday to raise whatever money he can and begin an advertising blitz this week for Herschel Walker’s runoff in Georgia against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.
But there’s one aspect Sen. Rick Scott of Florida won’t weigh in on: whether former President Donald Trump should stay out of the Dec. 6 runoff.
GOP insiders faulted Trump, who has had a toxic relationship with popular Republican Gov. Brian Kemp even though he endorsed him the day before his re-election, for costing the party control of the Senate in two simultaneous runoffs last year, after Trump lost his re-election bid to President Joe Biden and then advanced false conspiracy theories about voting that led many Republican voters in Georgia to stay home.
Warnock won his race against Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, and Sen. Jon Ossoff defeated GOP incumbent David Perdue, swinging control of the narrowly divided Senate to the Democrats.
Now — after both sides have spent more than $200 million in this year's Senate race — Warnock is in another runoff. And it once again could decide the balance of power in the Senate.
Republican leaders don’t want a repeat of the 2021 runoff, especially now that Trump has teased a "big announcement" Tuesday, when he is widely expected to officially declare another White House bid. But Scott is staying mum on the Trump question.
“That’ll be a decision between Herschel and Trump. I know that Trump wants to be helpful to make Herschel win. That’s an issue for the campaign. I don’t get to participate in those decisions,” said Scott, who is in charge of getting Republicans elected as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Charles Hurt had an interesting take on the coming DeSantis/Trump competition.
Brett Baier asked him yesterday what he thought of Trumps long tweet about DeSantis. Hurt just smiled and said this is gonna be clash of the titans and one man will come out stronger and win. Whoever that ends up being will be that much stronger of a competitior in the general election.
In other words, stop freaking out about Trumps treatment of DeSantis. Let them go at it, best man wins and will end up with massive support as a result.
We always hear the theory that a blood bath in the primary weakens the eventual nominee....but that really never happens, quite the opposite.
Sit back, enjoy the ride and let the best man win.
Agree with this. Hope Trump campaigns for Walker, and makes it about Walker. Don’t announce for President, and please don’t slam Kemp or Desantis. After the runoff is done, have at it.
“It is being put to him that he has to leave the person who brought him to the dance, at the dance, if he wants a ride home.”
I have not read that he said he would get on board, yet, or that he doesn’t want Trump to campaign for him. For me the short term is to frustrate the hell out of the demonkraps, and if it keeps the Senate at 50-50 or gives the GOP 51-49 that is better than possibility that Walker turns RINO.
The GOP is incompetent at governing, and in fact may be disinterested at best. A marginal majority won’t bring RINOs their tax cuts, raising the SS age, etc. Consider Trump’s legislative accomplishments are minimal, BUT two great accomplishments were (1) keeping Hillary out of the WH and (2) getting some good judges on the feral courts. I say let’s go Walker.

don’t miss it
Why? So Trump can win Florida? Or get 99% of the conservative vote instead of 98%? Trump will nominate a woman. Kari Lake has the MAGA energy. Probably her.
It might be a good ticket but it is not a good idea. DeSantis ran for Governor, has done a good job and increases his chances in the future by being a two term Governor. VP is a ceremonial waste anymore. Necessary, but not a place for getting to the top spot.
He should avoid that situation that Palin got herself into by abandoning his office. He is young yet.
People are jumping to him without even bothering to look at who is backing and financially supporting him. He went to Trump in 2018, so he didn’t have other backers dying to support him. The pictures are there on DeSantis Wiki page of the Trumps and the Desantis’s.
Trump again made the race about him not the Issues
which drove all the Nutter lefties to the polls .
Desanti cant be Governor forever . Fl has term limits.
Desantis is smart young and capable .
He fights on issues not his own
personal victim hood unlike Trump.
People are burned out on Trump .
Tired of Trump bad choices like Sessions or Wray .
We are still dealing that awful Wray .
Or his Daca Games or the Syrian refugee program he saved both evil programs . Trump STAY Away from GA .
We have a fresh start with Trump. He's the only one that cannot be bought. We know that DeSantis (I love my guv) and Abbot are bought by GOPe big money interests. Trump was astoundingly successful in his first term despite the constant attacks from all angles including his own party. Paging Paul Ryan. Mr Ryan please pick up the white courtesy phone.
And further could anyone else in the entire world pull off a 93+% success rate for endorsed wins? What the hell do you want?
I don’t think Walker will do that, but I have seen that Kemp and the RINOs are trying to squeeze him.
I agree. Trump is becoming a divisive and destructive force against his own party members. He needs to retire.
Even just two weeks ago, I would never have said this.
His growing tendency to trash his own people is not cute or funny anymore in year 2022. He barely got away with it in 2016, largely because Americans still were not used to such direct confrontation between party members.
Now, after Bidens puposeful demolition of our country, the dysfunction is too serious to turn a blind eye to this pompous distraction.
Here’s a dose of reality for you.
https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/mcconnells-pacs-spend-millions-to-bail-out-trumps-candidates/
North Carolina (where McConnell-aligned groups have spent $38 million vs. $0 from Trump’s PAC), Pennsylvania (McConnell’s $57 million to Trump’s $3.4 million), Wisconsin (McConnell’s $24 million to Trump’s $0), Georgia (McConnell’s $38 million to Trump’s $3.4 million), Nevada ($26 million vs. $2 million), and New Hampshire ($16 million vs. $0).
Note the comparisons to how much of his OWN massive war chest Trump spent to help his own hand-picked lunatics. What does Trump plan to do with all his PAC money? I have a guess. He plans to keep it.
My guess is Herschel Walker will ask Trump to hold a rally.
:: Trump is a immature ego maniac who attacked a fellow
Gop member out of Spite and Jealousy of his smart campaign. ::
Ncal...burt
Proving your liberal-media, Northern California (San Francisco?) roots.
Seems this “surgical Comms Operation” run by the Trump campaign has taken your mask off.
Willing to punch-down on Trump for ANY issue.
Duly noted.
It is on Trump that he is too vain to share credit with anyone who doesn't uniformly praise his very name, he should be reachi g out to Walker and the GOP to ask, not dictate or demand, but ask, where he can be of greatest service. It is also equally on the establishment for not working with him in a trustworthy way and positioning him where he can do the most good at rallying supporters and getting votes out in areas where he is a big motivator.
Ping
Only because the voters of Ohio knew Lyin’Ryan was a “Progressive” and not the moderate he professed to be. But that ad did damage.
Well Trump is friends with Walker so the RNC and the rest can shove it where the sun don’t shine
Correct. They want DeSantis out as FL Gov. They want to turn FL blue by reverting back to cheating. People need to wake up.
Very well said and every word TRUE.
