London (AFP) – The number of people waiting to receive treatment in England's state-run health service has hit at an all-time high of 7.1 million people, official figures showed Thursday.
Struggling to clear backlogs from the pandemic, the National Health Service (NHS) is recording long waits for tests -- including for cancer -- and routine and emergency care.
The waiting list for hospital treatment rose by 100,000 to 7.1 million at the end of September -- the highest figure since records began in August 2007.
Around one in 18 of those on the list have been waiting more than a year for hospital treatment, although the number of people waiting 18 months for treatment has dropped by almost 60 percent in a year, said NHS England.
But accident and emergency departments are reporting new highs in the number of people having to wait more than 12 hours for a bed after being determined they need one.

NHS is among the worst systems in the rich parts of the world, but the Brits treat it like their religion.

Everyone has the right to see a heart surgeon for free. That is,if you live long enough to get to the top of the waiting list.
They aren’t successful anywhere they do it. Britain is tiny compared to America. Imagine how bad it could be?
Doesn’t matter. The US has cooked it’s own goose and the free part which isn’t really free is more attractive than quality.
Maybe that is okay when you live in a death culture.

My 85 y.o. M-I-L was on a gurney in the hall of the ED at Orlando Regional Hospital for over 20 hours with pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, and other chronic medical conditions...O2 Sat of 35% on room air. They finally brought her to a room. Despite being given a printed list of her medications 3 times, after 2 days they still claimed that they did not have her medication list. None of the nursing staff had a clue regarding anything related to her care for the entire stay. She is better off at home now...except that now we had to evacuate her due to the hurricane and her needing O2 24/7. There has been a huge turnover in nursing staff: more experienced nurses moving to positions where there is no direct patient care or retiring early, hiring less experienced nurses who are thrown into situations without proper training AND hiring nursing students or recent grads who have not even passed NCLX who have almost no direct care experience AND are required to work directly under a licensed nurse...who, themselves, are overworked...recipe for disaster. If you or a loved one require hospitalization make sure you have a family member with you and question everything they are doing as to who ordered the care and why was it ordered.
Free healthcare in a country of the same size or smaller than many single states here.
This problem coming soon to America. The probable Democratic solution to this problem.

As long as the Excess Deaths continue to climb in England there will be an excess of hospital patients. The goal of CoVID, after all, is genocide. England is 6-8 months ahead of the US infection level and has a higher % of ‘clot shot’ recipients shedding their DNA-modified version of CoVID to those around them. Canada is about 3 months behind England and even more ‘clot shotted’.
The goal of NHS is to kill the patient and collect bonus money. 120,000+ people were denied healthcare and murdered each year. It is still going on despite the gov’t and NHS saying it isn’t. They only changed the name.
