A flurry of phone calls and texts at 2am taught me that some long-standing MAGA stalwarts are now preparing to ditch Donald Trump because they didn’t get the flood of feel good results last night. This attitude is incorrect, and sober analysis proves it.
The “OMG RED WAVE!!!” brigade are now the most vociferously disappointed. They set expectations so high – all the while carrying water for a Republican National Committee and party leadership led by the deeply unpopular Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell and Ronna Romney McDaniel. Now they’re upset.
Up and down the country, McLeadership candidates and strategies came up short of expectations. Not even all that short, to be fair. But still, deflating enough that people are already playing the blame game. Two can play.
Firstly, DC-based Republicans think its enough to run against something, rather than for something. They also fundamentally underestimated the appeal of Democrat messaging on abortion, student loan forgiveness, and the cringe-inducing “our democracy”. Honestly, we all did. People really are getting dumber and more pliant and there’s no ignoring that anymore, ...
So they were responsible for getting the clown show (Oz, Bolduc, Mastriano etc.) thru the primaries?
No way Trump can be blamed. He kept his financial powder dry.
How much does a libertarian candidate on the ballot hurt a republican candidate. I saw quite a few dem wins where if the libertarian was not on the ballot, there would have been enough votes for the republican to win.
I blame McConnell and the old guard Rinos
Exactly. Well said.
Donald Trump: “While in certain ways yesterday’s election was somewhat disappointing, from my personal standpoint it was a very big victory – 219 WINS and 16 Losses in the General – Who has ever done better than that?” he wrote.
I don’t blame him.
I’m just done with him.
I'm in a deep red rural area and saw a half page ad for Vote Blue. Meanwhile, marijuana legalization was on the ballot as a constitutional amendment, the totally wrong way to do it. At 38 pages, it will now be 20% of Missouri's constitution. Here's the money breakdown.
Never saw any advertising or mailings from the MO GOP on this. Zero dollars and zero effort.
Correct. And let’s not forget the Repubics have a very, very long history of Snatching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory!
100%
Well you can read and post pic links. Whoop-dee friggin do cry baby.
Mail in ballots.
HA HA HA!
Bingo!
Agreed. Desantis wants statehood for Puerto Rico, one of Paul Ryan’s pet projects. He pretty much ignored illegal immigration in Congress. We need to know a lot more about his history.
I think you’re misremembering things. Hillary was one of the most despised candidates in decades. I think even Biden in his current state without minders could beat her. Trump managed to grab attention from a very lackluster GOP field by his showmanship and antics and partially because the Dems underestimated him using him as a spoiler for other candidates they feared more. But while he was a showman in a way the typical GOP wasn’t he always was a guy with numerous flaws, both personal and political, who won against an extremely hated woman. This myth that Trump came in and won against the Dems best and brightest and improved the party on all fronts is silly revisionism.
he is a winner.
we should hitch our wagons to those types
And how did Trump do as a talent scout when he picked DeSantis ? Many things have to be considered when picking talent. They don’t always come with every desirable characterstic packaged into one. Ask any Hollywood talent agent. In fact far more often it’s hard to find anyone with any desirable characterstic at all. Then you have to decide from the tiny handful you get to choose from who is going to be the most effective or the least ineffective. Sometimes it works out. Sometimes it doesn’t. Look at Trump’s overall track record - not just in politics but his entertainment career as well. Amazing to watch people freaking out.. wah wah wah.. it’s all Trump’s fault.
and DeSantis showed how disciipline, issues and standing up to Fauci wins
That one is as sharp as a bowling ball and dull as a chalkboard.
