A flurry of phone calls and texts at 2am taught me that some long-standing MAGA stalwarts are now preparing to ditch Donald Trump because they didn’t get the flood of feel good results last night. This attitude is incorrect, and sober analysis proves it.
The “OMG RED WAVE!!!” brigade are now the most vociferously disappointed. They set expectations so high – all the while carrying water for a Republican National Committee and party leadership led by the deeply unpopular Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell and Ronna Romney McDaniel. Now they’re upset.
Up and down the country, McLeadership candidates and strategies came up short of expectations. Not even all that short, to be fair. But still, deflating enough that people are already playing the blame game. Two can play.
Firstly, DC-based Republicans think its enough to run against something, rather than for something. They also fundamentally underestimated the appeal of Democrat messaging on abortion, student loan forgiveness, and the cringe-inducing “our democracy”. Honestly, we all did. People really are getting dumber and more pliant and there’s no ignoring that anymore, ...
you only got half the story
yes - the lack of election success, while he also sat on a huge war chest does not sit well with quite a few of us
But the actually straw that broke the camels back is him deciding to pick a fight with DeSantis for no reason whatsoever other than maybe his ego was hurting.
So the fracture begins.
before the election the scale was:
Good night
Wave
Tsunami
afterward the “good night” turned into a trickle or ripple. It’s annoying as hell. Everyone talking as if Republicans did bad because some of the polls in some states were off in Democrats direction.
What damage did this do? Are you trying to say that people stayed home because of this non-story? Are you trying to say that the GOPe cares a lick about DeSantis?
The amount of money poured into the Senate races by the DEMs is staggering. The DIMS are crafty as they take advantage of ballot initiatives to drive single-issue voters to the polls while they pull the lever for D.
Yep. The torch has passed. DeSantiss baby.
Nonsense. But uou already knew that. See MTG’s post.
It’s not going to work. Trump or I don’t care who wins. I’m not so stupid ad to think that if the Repukes just get their guy in the country is saved. It seems like most of these fools don’t even know what the fight is about.
the cringe-inducing “our democracy”
Yeah, about that. If we actually were a democracy, wouldn’t we have collapsed by now?
46, wife who is a cancer survivor, 2 beautiful kids.
“ Yep. The torch has passed. DeSantiss baby.”
In your dreams
It was bad instincts for him to rile up frantic Dems to the polls when two days before election he pulled that crap with making election about him with his “ I’ll be making a huge announcement in a couple days” crap. He is now too unfavorable to the opposition which motivates them against him. He now has the same problem Hillary has, and this the red wave ends up as a red fart.
Political science has reached new heights.
Watch Biden give his post midterm speech “without” teleprompters.
(You can tell he’s looking over the assembled enemedia and reading off of giant
screens at the back of the room.)
Expect the doubling down to double, daily.
And he’s young enough to hopefully serve two terms.
I can explain our loss in two words:
Mail in ballots.
More accurately, place the blame on those who were the responsible parties. Ronna McDaniel. Mitch McConnell. Kevin McCarthy.
That’s the problem. We have a stupid electorate that elects stupid people. The majority of Americans are just plain stupid. That’s why our country is run by idiots.
Just throw your sucker in the dirt and head on home. Don’t need daises like yourself around crying like tit-babies.
Although, it was NOT an overwhelming tsunami, it was very positive for Red States and Red state voters.
Let's take it ONE step at a time. Next time we'll come away with MORE.
It takes time to WIN a war!
I’m not sure how much you should blame Trump for hurting this election but he didn’t really do much to help by promoting people like Oz and spending his time focusing his attacks on other Republicans and talking about himself rather than the Dems awful record. As the most prominent Republican and defacto leader the buck stops with him. You can’t just give him full credit for every victory and let him off the hook for every defeat.
